Saints Retaining Carmichael and Rest of Staff

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Pete is taking a lot of heat for players not executing plays. Yes, Carmichael made some head scratching calls throughout the season. So, he’s not getting off the hook that easy....

I think it's wise to wait until more moves (or lack of) have been made.

I'm trying not to get caught up in knee jerk reactions.

It's entirely possible another mind is brought on to learn Pete's system while Pete is on staff and then eventually take it to new levels.

That's my hope anyway.

Perhaps they wanted to move on from Roushar and Payton wasn't interested in him. Then it would be best for him to get released and get a start looking for work elsewhere.
It is a reason to blemish their resume. They didn't get the job done. Most ppl. I know get fired. If what you stated is true, more higher ups should get the pink also. Unreal.

Going to a game can really allow you to see the whole field better and I can assure you, guys we’re getting open, just crappy qb play for the most part. Makes me feel like he can still be productive for game day. On the other hand, I’d like a fresh new mind that can bring in some new innovative ideas to fit the modern NFL. Enter Booby Slowik
Bingo! I was at every home game and we had open receivers all the time. Dalton was either making a single read/throwing it away, missing the receiver, or hitting the open guy and he just plain dropped it. Sure, Carmichael was what I thought too conservative on 1st and 2nd downs, but maybe he simply didn't have confidence in the QB.

Exactly my thinking there, cmike.

Players didn't get the job done either. Those 4th and 5th string QB's and backup offensive linemen killed more drives than any play called. That's for certain.

One other thing is I keep hearing coaches getting compared to people in other jobs. It's not like that at all. The coaching pool is relatively small, unlike other potential workers in other businesses. Like it or not they do look out for each. Always have and always will. You fire a guy today and you might be looking for a position with that guy two years from now. It is absolutely the way it is, like it or not.

Or more like when Brees was behind C he made Petes job easy. Now we see how good (bad) he is without a top tier qb. Brees played behind some sketchy lines and had success.

He's also looked like crap his last two seasons with Payton calling plays. Have you forgot about that?
