And sure Signing Moreau might help address the TE position. But rather then signing a free agent TE for 8 million guaranteed and drafting a defensive end you could have drafted a tight end and signed an $8 million defensive lineman from free agency just as well.

I feel there have been certain positions that, to their Detriment, have been neglected in the Saints historical draft process. Specifically TE and LB. Going all the way back to watching Shanley get beat, apart from guys we got from other teams (Vilma and Davis) we have struggled to find production there and we spend very little draft capital compared to other positions. Likewise with TE. From Shockey to the Colts guy (I’m blanking on his name) we treat it as an afterthought despite the success we had with the one TE pick that was successful in Graham.

I’m glad we signed him and am pulling for him to work out. Doesn’t mean I don’t think we missed on draft potential for the position.
Boston no aurgument with you points concern. I feel that Payton had a huge say during his tenure and showed he clearly over estimated his ability to coach up late round draft picks after his initial success. Great coach but this a talent driven game.

My sense that the last 2 draft have so far shown the Saints will pursue demonstrated quantifed talent and continue their efforts to get value in their late round draft picks and UDFA. A necessary piece of the equation to paying for the core veterans needed in all areas of the team and managing the Cap.

I agree on LB’rs situation as it stands, maybe they sign a veteran free agent combined with they lhave and from last years practice squad and Red Shirted on Injured Reserve.

I think Moreau cap hit is 3 million this year so there’s plenty remaining cap available to sign a veteran linebacker. That would go a long way in shoring up the linebacking unit.

Let's not forget that we drafted a LB last year that didn't get to play a snap, D'Marco Jackson. So he is basically still a drafted rookie. We also added two more rookie LB's in Anfernee Orji and Nick Anderson from Tulane. We also picked up Ryan Connelly who was with Minnesota last season. The rookie draft is but one method for building a team. Depth can be added in any number of different ways. We currently have ten LB's on the roster and will eventually get down to six or seven counting practice squad. I agree that we'll likely be looking at another LB in free agency to compete for one of the depth slots behind the two starters and special teams.

Truly sad really.
Not that I would be a big loss, but I reached my end a few months ago and swore off B&G and actually PM'ed a couple of folks to say good-bye.

It was a moment of weakness...but F it. I refuse to deliver satisfaction to him. My opinion doesn't always align with folks, but none of us always agree. The best thing to say is "Lets Agree to Disagree" and move on.

That said, when so many threads are filled with Twitter, condescending attitude, and passive-aggressive dialogue, it becomes disparaging. Reminds me too much of "real life" which tells us which bathroom to use, what pronoun, race baiting and so on.

This site is one of my escapes(or should be) from all of the stupid spit fabricated to divide people as it is.

Okay...stepping off the soapbox and returning you to the regularly scheduled program.

Don't want em to get your goat don't show em where it's hid.

We are fixing to redesign this site. We have to, really, to keep up with the interwebs and how it changes. There will be some cleanups and modifications. It's all for the better. We appreciate and value everyone's contributions. It's good to have diverse views and disparate opinions. It fosters discussion and discourse... and frankly makes it much more interesting.
