Arrington, LaVar View Stats at Players Inc Site Player Info Draft Info LB (#) Year: 2000 Washington Redskins Round: 1 Fairfax, VA Position: 2 Salary History 2000 193000.00 2001 300000.00 2002 1120000.00 2003 450000.00 2004 535000.00 2005 540000.00 2006 545000.00 2007 2000000.00 2008 3500000.00 2009 5500000.00 2010 6000000.00 2011 7000000.00 We really wouldn't be in a bind until 2009, if we are not getting 5.5 mil worth of play out of him at that point. His bonus would have been paid already by Washington as it would accelerate onto their cap because of the trade. More than likely if they wait until the offseason and cut him it's less of a hit, but then they may miss a chance at Howard if that was the deal since he will be a FA as well. With that said, I agree we should also get a 2nd round pick, or at least a third, for Howard included if we were to do a trade with them. Howard's value is much higher than Lavar's right now. |

I don't know about changing to 3-4 from 4-3. Not with Venturi at the helm. Venturi shouldn't be defensive coordinator. But I remember hearing during the offseason that the Saints brought in a coach under Venturi who has taken a lot of his responsibilities. I don't know if that is true. On another note the defense look good against Buffalo and has showed some spark in other games. My hope is that they are starting to regain the form displayed in the last four weeks of the 2004 season. YOu can't draw much from the Buffalo game because I think their offense is Doo Doo. Green Bay may give me a further indication, but the Atlanta game will tell the true tale. And I hope our defense is up to the task.

Going back to the 3-4.... I wouldn't mind seeing us switch to the 3-4, but we just simply don't have the personnel. Our linebackers aren't very good, so why would we want to put more of them on the field at one time? Even if we did pick up Arrington, we'd still only have one good linebacker. If you look at all those other good 3-4 teams, they all have good linebackers. Just a thought...

Arrington is a talent. If we pursue and land him, fine. We can use the help.
But we're 4-3. 8) |

There's not a single DT on this team right now that could effectively play the nose.

This is really offseason talk here... with the Saints missing the playoffs and us overhauling the coaching staff. DT if we do decide to switch could and will be addressed through free agency and the NFL draft. We can only wish for those Dome Patrol days again.

..being that I follow the 'Skins since I lived in DC for so many years, I'll say that I like LaVar, he's got talent, but the production on the field does not reflect the talent level... he'll amaze you with a play here and there, but then he'll be out of position, overpursue, etc...
.. that said, yeah, I would love to see him in B&G with a DC not named Venturi |
