I know they are planning for France to be a location for games in the future. Maybe that's where the Saints want to market.

I was chatting with a person from France this weekend. They mentioned that the Fleur-de-lis, while certainly historical for them, isn’t displayed as much in France as it is Quebec, Montreal, and New Orleans.

As a Frenchman myself, I respectfully disagree. There isn't a church or cathedral anywhere in France that does not have many of them . Also many street signs and bridges over the Seine river in Paris are adorned with them. A plethora of regional and national French flags grace us with them, not to mention flags of noble families , some even with crests.

Sadly, my family is not represented by any crests of any kind, let alone one adorned with a FDL, even though I was born very near the Eiffel Tower. I do have , on the other hand, some lovely Mignon Faget FDL glasses, water and wine, and also period antique table cloths . Also my wife has a very special and beautiful Hermes lady scarf, Louis XIV, that is filled with them; we have it framed in our home since it's too pretty to wear.

Nice. Maybe this guy was just being a jerk. We were playing poker at the time! I happen to mention I learned to cook gumbo in Louisiana, showed him my tattoo, and mentioned he must see a lot of FDL in France. Maybe he was living up to the jerk Frenchman stereotype ! 🤣. (No offense!).

This whole thing is kind of pointless. Like 10 teams chose Mexico. Some teams chose lots of countries. Maybe Europe will get into football but if they do they will want their own team. And by that time 10 other NFL teams will pick France too. This is about as realistic as thinking Paris St Germaine games in FIFA are going to become a big event in Louisiana.

Since this is ridiculous anyway I think Green Bay should pick Greenland and the Vikings should pick all the Nordic Countries and Iceland.

Its crappy of the NFL to show Taiwan as a part of China on their map. Typical corporate move.

There's an unsubstantiated rumor St Bernard Parish has dibs on some of them.

I know what you mean, Smash. During the two weeks my wife and myself spent in France several years back we saw quite a few fleur de lis. Like you said, it seemed every cathedral was adorned with them.

Our family is associated with a coat of arms that includes two fleur de lis. The name was supposedly brought to England in 1066 by the Normand-French invaders.
