Re: Deandre Hopkins... should we?
I'd definitely make a call. The contenders are at least 4 deep @ WR & DHop is still a difference-maker.
You can never have enough quality receivers. I will say this about Allen & his brass ... they will do everything possible to bring in guys (draft & FAs) they believe can help them in positions of need. But what the hell do I know, I'm just a couch GM/Coach and team Physician |

If he wants to win a ring he should consider us seriously. We can be far better than some of the uninformed media suspect. We should still have an elite defense and if you pair D-Hop with Thomas, Olave, and Shaheem with Carr I see no reason why we shouldn't be among the very favorites to win it all.

Re: Deandre Hopkins... should we?
If he would play for cheap we should never turn down a cheap star who can still play. But realistically if he wants to win, latching on to a 7-10 team with a coach with a career .283 record who depends on the blocking of a washed peat and unproven recovering penning to block is not smart. And for the same reasons, if he doesn’t care about winning and just wants the biggest bid, us making that bid to ‘win now’ with that 7-10 team and .283 coach is not smart. Especially since WR is not our biggest need even if we were within reqch of championship contention. If he wants to win he should go to the chiefs, bills, eagles, 49ers etc. If he wants cash teams that need a WR and have cash include the bears, panthers, packers, patriots, jags, etc.

I love the Saints, but I am a realist. I can't say this team should be among the very favorites to win it all any more than I can say that Andrus Peat is among the NFL's fastest men and would be a favorite in a race against Tyreek Hill. Anything can happen. If the mid-round guard we drafted instantly becomes the next Jahri Evans, Panning instantly becomes a pro-bowl left tackle instead of staying hurt, our aging secondary suddenly all have great years, and Allen & Carr shake off their entire previous track records of being unable to win consistently and in big games, we could be the surprise team of the millenium. But we are underdogs. Big underdogs to do anything more than at most eke out a wild card appearance due to a weak division and easy schedule.

The Saints should make the call. No guarantees on Thomas' health and someone always gets hurt during the season.
Only problem is how much he will cost and will he insist on being a starter. |

He would want to go to a winning team but question is will he take less money?! Wonder what team he will land on?!
