I have noticed Olave choosing to run quickly out of bounds rather than trying to make one player miss for extra yards the last few games. The way you would like to see an aging QB like Brady or Rodgers avoid hits is what I see Olave doing in close games lately. Maybe he had a conversation with Pete Carmichael about the offense and it scared him straight about CTE. Maybe he is rightfully not invested enough in a poorly coached team that is going nowhere to get himself concussed to save these coaches jobs. Hopefully if we replace the coaches and are legitimate contenders he will put more on the line. At this point I dont blame him.

I am more confused by Michael Thomas going out of his way to dismiss the possibility of playing for another team. If we lose a couple more games, it would make a ton of sense for us to trade Michael Thomas to the Chiefs who badly need a wide receiver and pick up some draft picks that we can use to select or trade up for young offensive line. I think it would also make sense for Michael Thomas to get a shot at a ring because his injury history doesn't track for any kind of 10 year window ahead to be patient about that. And if it goes well and Thomas got a ring with a team like the Chiefs, he could potentially call out what celebrity he wants to date and it might work out. Seems like a good deal to me.

To get a ring, which requires an oline and a good head coach.

Re: Rasheed Shaheed vs Michael Thomas Stats

2023 Michael Thomas is 2020 Jarvis Landry. But Landry is so old you think? Actually Landry is less than 4 months older than Thomas. They both turned 18 the same school year. Not sure if they graduated the same year from high school but normally people with those two birthdays of 3/3/93 and 11/28/92 would.

Consider:

2023 Michael Thomas:
First 8 games 61,55,50,53,65,45,42,68 yards
55 yards average per game.
On pace for 2 TDs, 1 so far
62% catch percentage
10.9 yards per catch

2020 Jarvis Landry
First 8 games 61,46,36,48,88,40,48,52 yards
52.5 average yards per game
Finished with 3 TDs (all happened to be in the second half of the season)
71% catch percentage
11.7 yards per catch

Meanwhile Rashid Shaheed is playing like Tyreek Hill and we won't start him over Landry 2.0 and Mr. Half Route.

It doesn’t really matter who’s starting. We have three receivers on the field more than enough times to get Shaheed the ball when he’s out there.

This is what people don't seem to get. Who is designated #1, #2, #3 at WR doesn't mean jack squat. They all need to fill different positions on the field thou and thats what they need to worry about.

It's a weird hangup that some posters have here.
As long as Thomas is on the field he's a weapon. He might not be the game changer from three years ago but if Carr throws the ball anywhere near Michael Thomas, he'll catch it.

Just appreciate the win.
