How much does it cost to show your leadership? I do however have an idea for the Saints to sign him. Go ahead and pay him his 45 to 50 million dollars, and then subtract 1 million dollars for each interseption he threw last year. That might bring it down to what he\'s actually worth.

Better idea

Put up or shut up contract .

Baseline him over 6 years at 2.5 million per season . Put incentive clauses up the wazoo in the contract . Pro Bowl , qb rating of , total yards of , etc. etc . A Ricky williams contract with a paycheck .

He thinks he is a top ten then let him prove it . That way he gets paid for his potential . If it is all hot air then he does not sail away with our salary cap .

Certainly a man who states his greatness , would have no problem in proving it . His leadership would be proven for he knows he can lead the team to victory and get the big check and the ring ...

Brooks - At it again

Wow, where do I start? Do we live in China or the USA? Do we live in a capitolist country or a communist? Here are the facts. Everyone who is anyone in football knows that Brooks is a stud that had some growing pains last year. Alot of you people talk about how he couldn\'t lead his team out of a 4 game slide last year. Don\'t any of you think the fact that the defense gave up 35-45 points a game in that stretch had alot to do w/ what Brooks could do offensively? Look at this fact. R. Williams had 1200 yards w/ 3 games to go. The coaching staff, gotta wonder if Benson was behind that call, never gave him the ball in those last 3 games. Why? I\'ll tell you why. 2 words. Insentive clause. So for everyone of you that have piled on Brooks about his actions as of late, look at how they shafted Williams. Brooks knows that there are 20 teams out there that will pay him top dollar and you can\'t blame the guy for wanted to get what is obviously out there for him. Jeff Lewis made more than he did for God\'s sake people. JEFF MF\'ING LEWIS. :casstet:
For the guy that said Brooks should be happy that the Saints gave him the opportunity, do you keep that same mentallity for your boss giving you a chance when your turn for a raise comes up? Do you say, \"Thanks for the chance bossman. I\'m ok w/ making $5.00 an hour.\"? I doubt it. Noone piled on Brian Griese for wanting the contract he wanted, and got. What happened there? Well, Denver is a winner and they paid him knowing that he\'s a young guy and gonna have downs, but he\'s clearly a stud and in the long run(3 years max) he\'ll be a top 5 QB of the NFL. Same w/ Brooks only the Saints aren\'t winners and never will be as long as Benson holds the ownership papers. I still love the Saints and always will, but until they take care of their stars financially like other teams in the league do, they\'ll never be champions. Note: Miami is already in the works of redoing Williams contract. I ask you would the Saints have done that for him?

Just a thought. Maybe the defense wouldnt have given up 35-45 points a game in the last four had Brooks not thrown 11 ints and put them in bad situations. Im not blaming Brooks for what happened last year. You say Griese got his contract and is a winner. Since he has taken over after 2 superbowls the Broncos are 19-13. His own teammates dont even like him. Brooks has to show something better than 22 ints to prove he deserves the money hes asking for.

Ya\'ll need to listen. In Baseball the contract in guaranteed. In football, the only guaranteed money is the signing bonus. Yeah, Brooks is a S-T-U-D, and if you wanna blame him for last year\'s slide fine, but who get\'s the blame all the other Saints slides from past seasons. This guy is THE best QB the Saints have seen since Archie hands down. Should he be complaining about it in the Media...ummm, NO, but you can put a lot of that on his agent. Brooks made his point, and it\'s a good one. He did the right thing by showing up and working out. Ya\'ll need to understand that this guy could have a career ending injury TOMORROW and it\'s all over. Heck yeah he wants as much as he can get, and no one who honestly looks at his situation can blame him. I hope he and the Saints can meet in the middle somewhere, and I honestly think that can happen soon. Lets just say if he were a Baseball player his argument wouldn\'t stand up, but things being the way they are in Football the man has VERY GOOD REASONS for doing and saying the things he\'s doing and saying. Cut him some slack...any one of us with his talent (and his current salary) would and certainly SHOULD do the same thing!

GOOD POST SAINTSFAN. I DO HOPE THEY SIGN AARON SOON. HE DOES HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE A GREAT QB. I DON\'T BELIEVE HE DESERVES ALL THE BLAME FOR LAST YEARS DOWNFALL,IT\'S A TEAM SPORT AND EVERYONE CONCERNED NEEDS TO TAKE THEIR SHARE OF THE BLAME.THE ONLY THING I DO BELIEVE THAT\'S WRONG IS THE WAY HE\'S GOING ABOUT GETTING HIS RAISE. HE SAYS HE\'S THE TEAM LEADER AND IT\'S HIS TEAM, ALL I\'M SAYING IS, GET OUT THERE AND PLAY AND LET YOUR NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.BELIEVE ME I KNOW HOW BENSON WORKS, I WORKED IN THE CAR BUSINESS FOR 30 YEARS, ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS \"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY?\" WELL IT\'S TIME TO GO OUT THERE AND SHOW MR. BENSON WHAT HE\'S WORTH, AND SHOW HIS TEAMMATES THAT HE IS THEIR LEADER. LET THE AGENT AND LOOMIS WORK OUT THE CONTRACT.

Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot, than to open it and remove all doubt!!!!!

Brooks - At it again

5-4-3-2-1 Alright that was long enough . Cassady must have thought I died to even wait this long .

Alright A bomb , first things first . Begin at the beginning and end at the end , so here we go . China or U.S , lets get back to that one .

Ricky Williams being held back , interesting . Try this one , Ricky Williams is a power back that gains yards after he has worn a defense down . This is the reason he needs 30 carries to get a 100 yards . When a team is behind in a game and the clock is ticking , the last thing they are going to do is hand off consistently to a plow horse . Brooks inability to run the offense as designed with the quick reads and the check offs is the reason Williams was not effective in the last 4 games . Mc Carthy has been forced to redesign and redesign the offense to accomodate this .

As far as the defense giving up 35 - 45 points per game consider this , the quickest way to wear your defense out is to have your offense go 3 and out consistently . Once again the inability of Brooks to run the offense and the interceptions thrown equal a tired defense . Worn out defenses give up large point spreads .

Since you like To use Brian Griese as comparison , lets . In argueably a bad season for him .

2001 Quarterback Ratings

80.3 Fiedler
78.5 Griese
76.8 Batch
76.4 Van Pelt
76.4 Brooks

By these rankings both Fiedler and Griese are better quarterbacks and are deserving of larger contracts .

Lets summarize at this point .

Your saying Brooks should get a contract paying him in the top 10 dollar amounts at his position when he ranks no better than current # 2 quarterbacks , 2 quarterbacks that were starting for other franchises and were demoted or released because they were not good enough there :casstet: . That Benson should reach into his pocket and pay what Brooks is asking for and base this all on potential . May I remind you that Brooks has the potential to be the quarterback he was in the last 4 games also .

As promised China and U.S.

When I woke up this morning , I checked and sure enough we still live in a free country based upon a capitolistic system . Which allows us to purchase whatever at a fair market rate based upon its value . Which is what Benson is doing .
Brooks however has decided that he should be paid for what he has not proved and that Benson should do so because he says so or he will hold out . Even though he is still under contract , sounds a little like a dictatorship . Which I assume is a little more like a communist society than a democracy .

I leave you with this statistatical fact , Aaron Brooks current quarterback rating is 69.8 , but we still have potential :casstet: .

So lets see Saintz08...you\'re blaming all the Saints woe\'s on Brooks? Is that what I\'m reading? Sure looks like it. I guess you won\'t be cheering when he performs well huh? I guess you think that one player makes a team right? I s\'pose you think it\'s \"OK\" and that Brooks should simply accept the fact that he\'s making less than the 2ND STRING QB on the team right? I even rekon you\'re all for handing it all over to Delhome too huh? I\'m fairly certain you didn\'t cheer for Brooks when he Quarterbacked the Saints to their first playoff win. I\'m sure you think he was just lucky to be on the field right? How can you NOT see the potential he has? Anyone who knows ANYthing about football knows a QB rating is relative to the personell on the TEAM! Up to now Brooks has had ONE quality reciever in Joe Horn. I dearly hope he starts lighting people up now that he has some weapons and someone who can catch the ball out of the backfield. I expect you\'ll enjoy the taste of crow too. For future reference, do you like your crow baked or fried?
