K 2 years ago we were visiting a cousin and family who lived in Fresno CA. They had a Granddaughter on cheer squad at Fresno State. In Fresno purely by coincidence and timing, a Fresno State home game was schedule for that week. No idea who, what only we were there and we went to she Amelia cheer.

Watch the first half and the only reason I knew Haener was the QB was because I had a program. My cousins husband told about Haener’s love of all things Brees … ok nice story.

Move forward 2 years and when I heard the Saints had him on the radar my only hope was he lasted long enough where we could address a developmental QB in a later draft round. Longshot with our most pressing needs.

The next step playing in the NFL is always an adjustment to the speed and physicality of the game. On that Saturday I saw QB that had pocket presence, command of his offense, could make just about any throw standing in the pocket or scrambling.

First step in his journey with the Saints has been very encouraging, he seems to have picked up the offense and language and seems to be on solid ground out there.

Time will tell but by happenstance I saw this young man playing the game and he showed he had the “IT” factor.

If he were 6’2” - 6’4” even playing at Fresno State he would probably been 1st round/early 2nd round material. Caution opinion.

Looking like Tre'Quan is winning his spot getting open and catching the ball, not because of blocking.
