The New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers will meet up in an NFC matchup that is the home opener for Jordan Love and the Packers.
It won’t be the first time these two have met in an opener of sorts, as this is the third time since 2011 it has happened. Also, of their past 27 meetings, 11 of them have come in September. What’s up for this matchup, you ask? Let’s find out by going through the trends, series history, referees assigned to the game, weather forecast, injury report, lines and odds. We’ll also give you other info you might be interested in such as uniforms and the starting quarterbacks numbers against their opponent. TIME/TV: Sunday at noon at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisc. The game will be broadcast on FOX with an announcing team of Kenny Albert and former Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma with Shannon Spake on the sideline. The WWL radio team is Mike Hoss and Deuce McAllister. LINE TREND: The line at Caesars Sportsbook hadn’t budged an inch until Thursday. Throughout the week, it had been at Green Bay -2 – even after the Saints defeated the Panthers on Monday Night Football, but someone with a ton of money apparently likes New Orleans, as it has dropped to -1. As of late Saturday, the money line for the Saints is +100 and is -120 for Green Bay. The over/under total is 42, down from 43 earlier this week. What did I pick in this one? Check out my NFL Week 3 picks column to find out. WEATHER FORECAST: Just like last Monday in Charlotte, nearly perfect. It should be around 68 degrees at game time and remain there throughout the day. It is expected to be partly cloudy with winds around 10 mph. UNIFORMS: The Saints will be wearing all white, including white jerseys with black numbers (and their traditional gold helmets with the fleur-de-lis). They also will be wearing white pants and white socks. Meanwhile, the Packers will wear their traditional forest green jerseys with white numbers and gold pants with green socks. As always, they will wear gold helmets with the Green Bay “G” inside of an oval. REFEREE: Brad Rogers is the lead official and has been in that role since 2019. New Orleans is 3-4 all time when he officiates their games, while Green Bay is 4-0. This will be the second time he has done a Saints-Packers game with the other instance coming Sept. 27, 2020, in an empty Superdome during the pandemic. TEAM INFO, STREAKS SAINTS (2-0, 1-0 on the road) The Saints are ranked 10th in the NFL in overall offense (yards gained per game) and 25th in points scored. They are 18th in rushing offense and eighth in passing. … The team is fourth in overall defense and fifth in points allowed. They are 14th against the run and seventh against the pass. This is the third consecutive home opener the team will play in after they hosted the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, played at the Carolina Panthers in their home opener this past Monday and now here at Lambeau Field on Sunday for the Packers’ home opener. New Orleans has had plenty of success as of late against teams from the NFC North, where they are 9-4 since the start of the 2017 season. Since the start of the 2018 season, when the Saints are road underdogs, they are 12-4 against the spread and 10-6 straight up. As of Saturday, New Orleans was a 1-point underdog at Green Bay. PACKERS (1-1, first home game) Green Bay is ranked 28th in the NFL in overall offense (yards gained per game) and second in points scored. They are 25th in rushing offense and 23rd in passing. … They are 27th in the NFL in overall defense and 14th in points allowed. The Panthers are 30th against the run and 17th against the pass. The Packers have won 10 consecutive home openers, and the last time they lost in their first Lambeau game came in the 2012 season opener against San Francisco, whom they also lost to that same season in the divisional round. (The 49ers lost in the Super Bowl three weeks later.) Prior to that, Green Bay hadn’t lost in their first home game since dropping the first three to the Bears, Saints and Rams in 2006 when Brett Favre was quarterback. Green Bay has been favored in 11 of their past 12 home games, but they have only covered four times in that situation over that span. They also have lost four of the past seven homes games in which they were favored. SAINTS vs. PACKERS SERIES All-time: The Packers lead the overall series, 17-10, dating back to the first game on Nov. 17, 1968, which was won by Green Bay, 29-7. Last meeting: New Orleans won, 38-3, in the 2021 season opener which was played in Jacksonville due to the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. All-time in Green Bay / Milwaukee: Packers lead, 10-3, as the Saints’ only wins on the road in the series have come in the last game in Green Bay in 2017, 2006 and 1971 (in Milwaukee). All-time in New Orleans / 1 game in Jacksonville: Series tied at 7. SERIES BY THE NUMBERS 1: The number of games between the teams this century (11 total) that have been decided by fewer than seven points. That came in a 28-27 victory for the Packers in Lambeau Field on Sept. 30, 2012. (More on that later.) 26: The fewest number of points over that span of games in which has been scored by the winning team. The over/under for Sunday is a low 42 points. 2,471: Yards Drew Brees passed for against the Packers in seven games from 2006 to 2020 as a member of the Saints. That’s an average of 353 yards per game. He also threw for 19 touchdowns in those seven games. 3,512: The combined number of passing yards the Saints have total in the 20 games against the Packers not quarterbacked by Brees. That’s an average of 175.6 per game. Join in LIVE CHAT or this Live Gameday Thread... Last edited by SmashMouth; 09-24-2023 at 11:24 AM.. |

The crew we have today is notorious for flags, so be prepared for them not to let Lattimore or our DB's play physical.
