Someone has some serious soul searching to do. I'm one of them.

This is good we keep this up we can be in top ten pick territory. Bo nix maybe? Penix?. This time next year. Cam AM MT all might be gone. Maybe we bring in Flores or Lovie

I want no part of Bo Nix. He wasn’t very good in the sEC and had to bolt to the PAC12. Also, he’s like 25? I’ll have to look it up but his freshman year was like 7 years ago.

Edit: Sorry, he’s 23 and will be 24 before the draft.

Yeah I'm judging him based off the past few years and he's been balling.

Bo Nix is trash. That’s a big NO. I like Michael Penix and Sam Hartman.

Young guy doesn't mean or guarantee ANYTHING outside of the guy is literally younger. Personally Idc as long as the Saints have an above avg QB commanding the offense question is what do the Saints want?

Best throw today was Hill in the 1st quarter.

I doubt that. Penix suffered injuries in his first three seasons at Indiana. He played well before those injuries. Bo has never played less than 10 games his entire career and he was ass at Auburn. Don’t be fooled by that RPO, quick screen offense Oregon runs. Everybody lights it up out there.

Yep. PAC12 = NO DEFENSE

We need to cut JW! Carr is a backup at best! Fire Allen and Carmichael! We need to trade MT for a QB and promote someone from the practice squad to take his place! Who can we get as a head coach and OC for the rest of the season! Hell the season is lost anyway with the staff we have! Carr has 2 TD’s and 2 INT’s through four games! That does not look good!! Olave and Saheed need to be fed! We can’t keep running AK and passing to him every down!!!

What offense is Penix running? Justin Herbert was Oregon too he ain't too shabby. Jalen Hurts ran a nice bit of RPO as well A Richardson too, Are saying RPO heavy QBS won't/don't translate?

Re: Saints vs Bucs Game Day Thread

I do not believe we should draft a QB in the 1st round. We need to spend as much of the first 5 rounds drafting oline as possible.

We can't afford to move on from Carr in March 2024, that needs to happen in March 2025. So we will have Carr in 2024. No QB can succeed with our oline and offensive coaches. We need to spend our draft resources beefing up the oline and our financial resources cleaning up the cap by cutting other aging players in 2024 so we can afford to move on to cutting Carr in 2025 if he does not improve with a better oline and coaching. So, it would make more sense to draft a QB in 2025.

Now if some amazing QB our new coaches love slips to the 3rd round in 2024 and we project him as a starter down the road, sure, ok. But not a 1st round pick while we owe Carr $50 million or whatever.

Well hypothetically speaking if the Saints were to move on from DA and PC DC is gone too . I don't see a new coaching staff trying to build around DC

I’m saying Bo Nix won’t translate. Herbert is the only QB from Oregon that’s actually been good. I saw more than enough of Nix at Auburn. He was horrible. Penix at Indiana was good, he just had three injuries in a row. Bo Nix isn’t anywhere close to the level of Hurts or even Richardson. Those two are far more talented.

They dont have a choice really. We can restructure contracts to get under the cap but the biggest target to restructure is Carr. If instead, despite Carr’s guaranteed 2024 salary, we cut him and instead accelerate his prorated bonuses hitting as dead cap, we suddenly are an additional $17 million over the cap and have $23 million less to restructure, a swing of $40 million in our cap outlook. That would mean we have to restructure and retain virtually the entire roster besides Carr and we only have enough money left to sign our rookie class and perhaps bring back Mark Ingram as our premier free agent. I think a new coaching staff would rather rebuild by changing over more than one player, and that means moving guys with non guaranteed salaries where we can move more than one. Unless some team would take Carr’s salary, which seems unlikely.

Oregon base offense is pro style with a mix of RPO and Spread....The reason Jalen Hurts plays as good as he does because of the Oline for one and they didn't put a square peg in a round hole. Nix throwing for damn near 10yards a throw 80% completion and you still referring to when he played at Auburn...you have a clear bias for whatever reason. Bo nix in the right situation and a good oline can definitely translate what are you talking about. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles run ALOT of RPO. Didn't say Penix was bad but it's WASNT the SEC now was it? They are both ij the Pac-12 and both playing some of if the not the best football currently at their positions give credit where credit is due.

You're right, I didn't know they signed him 4 years though it was 2 year deal with an out in the second year

Hurts was good at Alabama. Hurts was good at Oklahoma.

Penix was good at Indiana. Penix is good at Washington.

Bo Nix was trash at Auburn. Bo Nix has good stats at Oregon.

It’s not bias. I’ve just had five years to watch him and I don’t believe the hype. He’s Desmond Ridder. Jayden Daniels is doing what Nix couldn’t do in the SEC and I’m not big on him as a pro prospect either.

System and Talent you leaving that out. You must still be hurt about him Killing LSU. You 5 years to watch him but you only bring Auburn and some up his play at Oregon as RPO and screens when that's not the case. Agree to disagree dude. Bodacious campaign!!!

I don’t really have a strong connection to a college team like that. I root for LSU the same way I root four Southern (Baton Rouge) and Tulane. I want them to win but it isn’t a mood changer like the Saints. I bring Auburn up because he spent most of his collegiate career there. I saw him be mediocre for three years. Now he’s in a favorable system. I’ve watched him this year. I’m not impressed, but I guess we’ll see when he gets to the next level if he’s for real or not.

Speaking of LSU …

Ooofff ! Brian Kelly better get it together.

Neither team played any defense either.

Knew that was a bad hire too. LSU looks like Notre Dame.

Give that time. He's one of the GOAT college coaches of all time. It'll get right. Orgeron left this team bare when he left and we won the West during his first season. Defense looks horrendous but we playing with a make shift secondary consisting over transfers and overrated recruits that were left behind. Next year is going to be a real important year that will show were our program is headed.

When I wanted us to reset, I had Penix as a top target to go after. I think I comped him to a left handed Hurts last year. Big fan.

Bo Nix isn't the same Bo Nix we saw in the SEC. Night and day. He's really developed and transformed his game.

Jayden Daniels is going to be a intriguing target for someone on day 2. He's made a lot of progress as a passer and as someone who was always screaming at the TV when he dropped back last season, that hasn't been the case at all this year. He's not afraid to make throws anymore.
