I doubt that. Penix suffered injuries in his first three seasons at Indiana. He played well before those injuries. Bo has never played less than 10 games his entire career and he was ass at Auburn. Don’t be fooled by that RPO, quick screen offense Oregon runs. Everybody lights it up out there.

We need to cut JW! Carr is a backup at best! Fire Allen and Carmichael! We need to trade MT for a QB and promote someone from the practice squad to take his place! Who can we get as a head coach and OC for the rest of the season! Hell the season is lost anyway with the staff we have! Carr has 2 TD’s and 2 INT’s through four games! That does not look good!! Olave and Saheed need to be fed! We can’t keep running AK and passing to him every down!!!

Re: Saints vs Bucs Game Day Thread
I do not believe we should draft a QB in the 1st round. We need to spend as much of the first 5 rounds drafting oline as possible.
We can't afford to move on from Carr in March 2024, that needs to happen in March 2025. So we will have Carr in 2024. No QB can succeed with our oline and offensive coaches. We need to spend our draft resources beefing up the oline and our financial resources cleaning up the cap by cutting other aging players in 2024 so we can afford to move on to cutting Carr in 2025 if he does not improve with a better oline and coaching. So, it would make more sense to draft a QB in 2025. Now if some amazing QB our new coaches love slips to the 3rd round in 2024 and we project him as a starter down the road, sure, ok. But not a 1st round pick while we owe Carr $50 million or whatever. |

I’m saying Bo Nix won’t translate. Herbert is the only QB from Oregon that’s actually been good. I saw more than enough of Nix at Auburn. He was horrible. Penix at Indiana was good, he just had three injuries in a row. Bo Nix isn’t anywhere close to the level of Hurts or even Richardson. Those two are far more talented.

Re: Saints vs Bucs Game Day Thread
They dont have a choice really. We can restructure contracts to get under the cap but the biggest target to restructure is Carr. If instead, despite Carr’s guaranteed 2024 salary, we cut him and instead accelerate his prorated bonuses hitting as dead cap, we suddenly are an additional $17 million over the cap and have $23 million less to restructure, a swing of $40 million in our cap outlook. That would mean we have to restructure and retain virtually the entire roster besides Carr and we only have enough money left to sign our rookie class and perhaps bring back Mark Ingram as our premier free agent. I think a new coaching staff would rather rebuild by changing over more than one player, and that means moving guys with non guaranteed salaries where we can move more than one. Unless some team would take Carr’s salary, which seems unlikely.

Bo nix in the right situation and a good oline can definitely translate what are you talking about. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles run ALOT of RPO. Didn't say Penix was bad but it's WASNT the SEC now was it? They are both ij the Pac-12 and both playing some of if the not the best football currently at their positions give credit where credit is due.
