I don't like losing but we need to for the rest of the season.

For this year for the first time in my life. I don't care if we lose out.

It should freaking hopefully guarantee that DA and Pete are gone. There is no way in hell someone could justify keeping them if we lose out. If we somehow get our crap together and finish 8-9 or 9-8. It'll be, oh well they are still getting adjusted. Blah Blah Blah. F*ck that. Plus we would get a pretty damn good draft pick.

I am just done with these two. There is no universe where this will ever work. Hell Pete didn't even want the job. I mean who has to be "talked into" a promotion?

See the twitter post of Carr yelling at Pete at the end of the game after that 4th down play. Speaks volumes.

Hopefully our talent won't want to leave if I said above happens. If they do, fine. New blood!

Officially a NegaSaint for the rest of the season.

We could also trade some players to get some draft picks and long term cap relief. Michael Thomas to the Chiefs could make sense.

I disagree. I think we could get something for him because of the specifics of his contract which makes him a low cost rental. When we restructured his contract we converted almost all his base salary to an immediate bonus. He is not under contract for 2024 except for hypothetical void years designed to prorate that bonus and past bonuses. If we trade him this year we take all the hit against the 2024 cap and can't divide half of it into the 2025 cap, but that dead cap hit goes to us, the only thing that can transfer in the trade to the Chiefs cap is his $1.26 million salary (perhaps 800k only since some checks have already been cashed) and any future years salary or bonuses (of which there are none) so for the Chiefs he would be an $800,000 rental for the rest of the year. I don't know how his incentive bonuses work, so maybe that could be a tiny bit more if he stays healthy all season. But if you look at the Chiefs they have a Super Bowl team minus any good experienced possession receiver and their offense goes haywire when Kelce is out. If they can rent Thomas for $800,000 for the rest of the year for a late 4th round pick with a 7th coming back, or something along those lines, I think it could make sense. Jerry Jeudy has a cheap rookie contract too but maybe the Broncos want more cash. Courtland Sutton carries a $14 million base salary over 10x what Thomas would cost on their cap. They would not just get Thomas, they would get Thomas with a contract that largely is already cashed out so they pay next to nothing.

Since essentially all our contracts are like this, any trade provides a similar one year value to our trade partner. We already paid everyones salary in March. Anyone we trade to another team have all but $1 million of their 2023 salary already paid so they are very cheap for one year.

Thomas is a beast ... he's all the way back. No way you get rid of him now.

We aren’t championship contenders this year, we need to rebuild, and Thomas is a free agent after this year. A rebuilding team would not sign a pricey free agent with a long injury history based off a one year comeback at a position where we already have lots of young talent. So, if we are moving on anyway, why not trade him and get some value?

Let say we did want to resign him in the offseason. But lets say we have limited free agent budget, because we do. In what world would retaining Thomas be a wiser use of that limited money than bolstering the oline? Talented oline with risky injury histories are generally available too, so if we are going to roll the dice, thats the bigger position of need right?

So in no world does it make sense to retain Thomas in 2024 and in no world can we win a ring this year. So it makes sense to trade him. Unless being able to lift 500lb allows him to play oline now??!

Sad. Carr knows the play calling is ****. It’s ridiculous. Get the **** rid of Pete C! He’s garbage!

Brees vouched for PC to Carr. Maybe next he can recommend a great jeweler in San Diego.

We have an “organization” that did not get rid of Pete, is not getting rid of Pete, and will not get rid of Pete (or Dennis). We won’t be fine. The whole organization is a problem. They saw this coming for a long time, just as we fans did. And here we are.

Eventually public pressure will take its toll. We can all play a part. Gayle and the upper management will note when their names start to get dragged through the mud in the media and when they are at their fancy galas and the organizers collecting the checks are smiling and eager to talk with them but the other attendees are dismissive and treat them like losers who are getting in the way like "oh, you, that, yeah sad." For the last decade and a half they have gotten to feel like the kings of the fricken diamond parade. If this continues they will get to feel like the #1 manure distributors in the tri state area who just spilled their load in the town square. I don't know if they will pick the right new people, but loyalty is going to have limits and they can't keep all the old people if it takes the luster off them.

It's had to believe that my unbridled optimism has soured so quickly. I'm one of the bigger sunshine pumpers out here but it's hard to stand up straight after getting kicked in the gonads again. :nutkick:

Ok chicken little. The organization wants to lose. They know it will cost them money. They want to hemorrhage money 🙄

The greatest haters are Pete Carmichael, Dennis Allen, and Mickey Loomis. They hate scoring touchdowns, winning games, and leaving a cent on the table buying mediocrity. The rest of us believe in a bright future with exciting young players and new innovative coaches. To us, this regime is like one of those desperate spin off sitcoms when a popular tv show ends. Drew Brees, Sean Payton, and Friends are gone, but don't worry their lovable side kick Dennis Allen is Joey.

We're a year late on a rebuild.

We have talent on offense, a strong defense, and play in a crappy division. You go out there and try to win until you're out of it. Rebuilding was out of the question after our moves from the last off season. Move on and hope for better days... and better coaching.

At least we aren't the Broncos.

They are in "fire sale" mode.

The way they are looking, we are getting a high 2nd round pick for Sean Payton.

You have to wonder if they're tanking on purpose because they suck. It's crazy the Bears could have the top 2 picks in the draft.

+1.

It's like a few here are simply okay with mediocrity.

Having a .305 (15-38) HC doesn't help either .

We knew going into this year what kind of leader he was and Loomis and company still went with him. SMH
