Re: Saints Jaguars Postgame Observations
Aside from the poor play of Carr, there is evidence starting to leak out that teammates are not very fond of him. Combine poor play and not being well liked and you get the strong possibility of a complete locker room implosion.

I never thought I'd say this... but it might be time for Jameis Winston.

Re: Saints Jaguars Postgame Observations
The "C" on Carr's jersey doesn't stand for "Captain". It stands for "Contract".

This was a solid breakdown & unbiased truth. Boy o boy, we're in trouble. Derek better look in the mirror. |

Yes, Winston will give you a head scratcher a few times a game but his deep ball is where he clearly separates himself from Carr. There were 3 picks that Carr gifted the Jags but dropped. |

Re: Saints Jaguars Postgame Observations
At least the games would be entertaining if Winston was under center. The over under on interceptions would be a great sticky thread. Jokes aside I would take an exciting win or lose over the snore fest we are seeing every week in our current situation. At least with Winston you know a bomb is coming at some point.

Deuce Windham tape analysis of Carr and Olave's issues. |
Re: Saints Jaguars Postgame Observations
^^^ So in that 22 + min breakdown, Deuce is confirming what
JT OSullivan already told us … your BIGGEST OFFENSE ISSUE is the QB. Derek Carr has missed open receivers, making the wrong reads etc. So instead of him trying to show up people by yelling & screaming after every other play, maybe he should look in the mirror first. At 150M, he should be a lot better than Dalton 🤦🏼*♂️. |
Re: Saints Jaguars Postgame Observations
There are some QBs who are game smart on their own and make the right decisions. Then there are system QBs who can execute if the right HC or OC gets in their head so much that they are basically drilled into being an extension of that system on the field and they are always thinking what they know the coach would think and looking where they know the coach would look. Winston was successful at times with Jimbo Fisher, Sean Payton, and at times Bruce Arians, who are all respected offensive gurus. Derek Carr saw his greatest success with Jon Gruden. Right now our offense is run by Pete Carmichael who was apparently the guy who got out of the way and made Starbucks runs while Sean Payton and Drew Brees did their thing, along with DA who only knows how to break offenses not fix them.
I think that if we brought in someone like Gruden, both Carr and Winston would look better. If we keep PC and try to switch to Winston, I think we get 2022 Winston not 2021 or earlier Winston. It's unfortunate that we paid $150 million for Derek Carr when we could have gotten Gruden for like $5 million and he could have done as much with Winston as Carr. |
Re: Saints Jaguars Postgame Observations
Perhaps Pete's playbook is too voluminous for Carr right now.
Brees knew the 2nd and 3rd options on every play like the back of his hand. Carr ain't there yet With the talent we have, cutting the playbook in half probably results in a highly effective and efficient offense anyway. Carr may be trying to process too much right now. |
Re: Saints Jaguars Postgame Observations
Watching Indy (Saints next opponent) vs Browns today.
It’s crazy looking at a second tier QB in Gardner Minshew go up and down the field on a solid defense is just crazy. Meanwhile we have a QB who can’t seem to score in the redzone. This will be another tough outing & on the road. |

Every week is just death by turnover / punt. I will say, the D isn't as good as originally thought too. I read from Saints reporters that they didn't even record a single hit on Trevor Lawrence, all game! |

We need an offensive spark. That stat of 3-18 on 3rd down isn't going to cut it. Maybe I'm just completely spoiled by Brees after all of these years :D. |

I was fortunate during the Aints years I was in the military and rarely saw more than 1 live game a year. Frustrating to hear the same blah blah "we need to do better". Do something even if its wrong instead of hearing same ole same ole and seeing the same ole same ole play and results week after week. WhoDat67:bng: |

is not practical in season. After the season if they don’t move on from Allen🤦 God help us. Carmichael should be gone, but if not after the bye they might get their act together to miss the wild card by 1 game. |

Fans don't normally want their favorite team to lose one game let alone ten games in a row. I understand the frustration but why play the long game (losing out for the rest of this season and maybe the next two seasons) when you've got great players nearing the end of their football life in Davis, Jordan, Mathieu on defense--while Kamara and Thomas are about to age-out on offense. Surely you'd prefer the current team--players and coaches--to right the ship rather than lose a lot of games and hope for certain coaches and players to luckily fall into the Saints lap in the future? |
