NEXT UP… INDY…

If this was the Payton/Brees Team, even at their worst, we could always expect the unexpected. Even the hazardous Haslett/Brooks combination offered thrills on the rollercoaster ride that was a Saints Game.

But this current squad? Meh…

What are we going to do about it, and how long will it take before we can be excited again?

Re: NEXT UP… INDY…

For starters, the Colts are able to score (avg 25 ppg) points in games. Even with a backup QB (Minshew).

Defensively, Zaire Franklin (ranks 1st in NFL total tackles) is a solid LB & is good in coverage. Their secondary is a work in progress though. Can Carr capitalize on this mis match?

And the rookie Josh Downs is a legit chain mover. Had a solid showing vs Browns on yesterday.

Even though the Colts are currently 3-4, this will be another tough AFC team. FYI, the Saints are 1-2 against AFC south opponents in 2023.

We were only able to defeat the last place Titans.

Doubtful.

i guess it all depends on how long before we move on from DA. We have a talented team of players but no one to motivate them or show them how to win.

I have no faith in this team as is. Something needs to fundamentally change in order to beat teams like the Colts, and they aren't exactly world beaters.

Our O-line is in shambles and our QB can't read a 2nd option. If things don't change this team could implode.

Re: NEXT UP… INDY…

Expensive Gardner Minshew for the Saints vs Cheap Derek Carr for the Colts. Should be an interesting matchup.

I remember in preseason when I thought that we'd be good this year.....

Oh well, On to Indy for the next set of stale play calls from the coaching staff.

Las Vegas line opened on Sunday with the Colts (+1 1/2) home underdogs vs New Orleans.

As of today, it's flipped back to Indy (-1) favorite.

Definitely a toss up for me. Hopefully we get the super suckage Minshew.

Minshew can look like an All Pro once in a blue moon. He’s about due for good game. I have zero faith in the team right now. In fact I want our offense to look like a steamy piece of garbage. Hopefully if it’s bad enough it will force change. Might not be too late yet, but another couple weeks of this and we have zero shot of making the playoffs.

Trust me. It's definitely too late for a shot at the playoffs.....

OUT - Desire, Anger

IN - Lethargy, Hopelessness

K Major 10-27-2023 05:16 PM

Re: NEXT UP… INDY…

Landon Young - questionable
Max Garcia - questionable
Andrus Peat - questionable (every week it appears  )

^^ all interior offensive linemen. Even when these guys play, it's spotty at best. Not to mention Ramz isn't as healthy as he once was.

It's hard to win at this level with makeshift olines.

Finding better depth in those trenches need to become a priority in 2024.

If they had to beat Frank Gore on the Wonderlic test to make the flight, our entire coaching staff and front office would be OUT every week.

I mean, we might beat Indy. They are not a top team. I think its 50/50. We wont beat a top team in a game that team needs to win.

Our Injury List is more comprehensive than our game plan LOL

It's merely more of the same... just a different day. The movie Groundhog Day comes to mind.

One of these weeks its gonna all come together and we gonna destroy someone.

This week probably ain't it.

Re: NEXT UP… INDY…

Quick FYI … heard Mike Triplette discuss some notable injuries (Maye, JT Gray) & he pointed out that Andrus Peat started practice on Friday HOWEVER left early with a new ankle injury 😕. So if he can’t go on tomorrow, we have more issues at LT.

It’s becoming apparent, Doug Marrone doesn’t want Penning out there unless absolutely necessary.

I don't want Dougie Marrone coaching him either. He's just not very good. He only lasted one year before Saban canned him. We need to move on too.

No. It’ll likely be the last game of the season. If the Saints lose they’ll get a high draft pick while a win will have them picking in the teens.

Looks like they CAN win. They just have to be coached to win consistently.

I glanced at the Saints remaining schedule ...

Bears (terrible), Vikings (their starting QB is done for the year), Falcons (they lost their best defensive player (Grady) for the season on yesterday, Panthers , Giants etc. The only games that I'm really concerned are the Bucs & Lions.

There is absolutely no excuse for this team NOT to be favorites just about every week from here on out. The football Gods are giving us a early gift in 2023.

But yeah, coaches still gotta coach. We'll see .

There weren't any excuses, although they took some, to begin with with reportedly the easiest schedule in the NFL. That's why they play the games, don't they?
