Re: What would it take to keep Dennis Allen
More than that
They need a change in scouting and overall philosophy They'll be stuck in mediocrity for a long time paying for overpaying and extending players because they couldn't afford to cut them. The scouts are still revelling in how good they drafted in 2017. Whoever scouts and picks the DE needs firing out of a cannon |

Re: What would it take to keep Dennis Allen
I have no confidence in DA but your position is too extreme. If DA say beat the Seahawks, Lions, and Eagles to win the NFC and them fell to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, I would extend him. With this roster, it would be a better coaching job than Payton ever did. Our coordinators would be getting HC interviews. We have to separate what is very unlikely from the proper action if it happened. If DA wins the NFC I would be thrilled. If Zion Williamson finishes second in the NBA in minutes played I am ok with that. If Andrus Peat starts the rest of the season and allows 1 sack I would extend him. If Trequane Smith had 1200 yards receiving I would not have cut him looking for 1500. If Mickey Loomis got us down to the second most future cap space and draft picks stockpiled of any team I would be ok with him. DA as we know him can’t win the NFC, but in the very unlikely event he did I would recognize he has improved. Likewise and equally likely if we won the NFC due to our oline led by Penning, Hurst, and Peat manhandling the Eagles dline as Adam Prentice set an NFCCG record with 250 yards rushing, I would keep all four of them in 2024 too. I just dont see it as very likely.

Re: What would it take to keep Dennis Allen
If we make the playoffs and win a game or two I would find it hard to fire him. I don't see that we have a roster to really compete for the title, mainly because of our problems at O-line.
What I would factor in if I was the GM, is an important thing that we as fans sadly see little of, is if DA still has the lockerroom. Does the players support and want to play for him? If that isn't the case its time to clean house. |

This is more of my fear with Allen and Carmichael. If a coach is afraid to make needed changes and lacks authority, what you can sometimes see if the apathetic players professing strong support while the driven players act out.

For me: NFC south crown and at least 1 win in the playoffs.
It's Gail Benson who is the one who needs to be convinced he's got to go and I'm not sure she's looking to give anyone in the current regime the boot! |

I couldn't agree more with this sentiment.
