Deuce is completely correct here.

Against the better teams (circle 12/3), & in post season you have to shut the door early. LEAVE NO DOUBT. Luckily we were playing the Bears.

Deuce: Saints defense has to learn to be 'elite all the time,' not just the 2nd half - YouTube

The problem is that when we shut the door it's usually on our foot.....just before we shoot ourselves in it.

Not to be a Debbie downer for some of you flying on a high. I like the team we have on the field and believe there is a ton of potential there. While the team is certainly better than 5-4, what stands on the sidelines is not. That is the sh*t show which prevents me from seeing overall upside.

We are 5-4 and Top of the NFL South. Great
We are also in a spot where if we do not win the division we could be out of wild card position, and have beaten no teams with a winning record. Other than the Colts, no team we have beaten has more than 2 wins and 3 of our 4 losses came to teams that are .500 or below. We are only beating loosing teams and 1/2 the time losing to losing teams which really curbs any potential for enthusiasm.

While I do understand that optimism is more socially acceptable than pragmatism, I also know that Las Vegas was built on and is sustained by blind hope and optimism... Not winners. :bng:

What does Vegas have to do with our hope and optimism for our beloved Saints?

Every week that goes by the HC and OC show us more detailed evidence of their lack of ability to lead a talent laden rooster. With inconsistent game planning that fails to attacks our opponents defense using ALL our offensive weapons. Play calling looks random, 3rd and short throw deep, 3rd and long throw 3 yard crossing route across the middle trying to pickup 9.

We saw multiple calls by DA in this game alone where his decisions rather than increasing the margin for victory putting the outcome of the game at greater risk.

Whether we win the NFC South or not this leadership Cabal needs to change. DA is an example of someone who is a really good Defensive Coordinator but has twice shown little prospect as a Head Coach in especially in Todays NFL that is an Offense First League.

Agree. For the past few years this team has had multiple injured players and an average to below average record as a result. Or so many of us thought. Now that the team is relatively healthy this season with one of the best defenses this team has ever had playing against unremarkable teams their record is again average.

It's evident from which the weakness stems.

My biggest concern is that DA will be back next year! "Nuff said!" :brood:

I just want to reach the playoffs and play a home game. If that guarantees that Allen returns as head coach then so be it.

JAG has 1 td... :beatnik: according to ESPN. I don't follow much... maybe 2.... cough.
