Why does it bother me(us) more?

I've been trying to figure out why the current mismanagement by Loomis is ticking me off so much and getting under my skin. It didn't used to grind my gears like this.

This is a franchise that has done many hundreds of mind-boggling things in its history (some even during the Brees/Payton era). I got hooked on the Saints during the Dome Patrol era - and believe we did more than our share of stupid s**t back then. Seeing our kicker be the only offensive threat on our team shouldn't feel so bad to Saints fans, right, as that was the peak Morten Andersen existence?

Letting Wesley Walls go to Carolina in expansion was crazy.
Letting LaRoi Glover get away was nuts.
We were in position to draft Eddie George and Warrick Dunn before the infamous Ricky Williams overpay.
Probably so much other stupid s**t we did. I could probably spend the whole day researching just the early 90's onward.

But the current day fiasco seems so much worse. Yesterday's fun has become today's frustration. Why?

- Is it because in prior days there was less parity and a bigger talent divide in the NFL and it was a harder climb to build a winner to compete with the likes of San Francisco and Dallas in the NFC, hence less hope to be had?

- Is it because I'm older and I've seen more of the world and have more context on how businesses (inside and outside of sports) fail/lose?

- Is it because I feel the organization is trapped because of the dead money contracts that are unmovable and that we have reached historic levels of roster inflexibility in NFL history if not all of sports?

- Is it because our roster is the oldest in the NFL whilst the college game is flourishing and the NFL is becoming more of a younger player's league than it was before?

- Is it because the Internet and social media gives us more opportunity to validate our frustration with our fellow fans?

- Is it because I've been a fan for longer and I have more emotional capital invested?

- It is because Mickey has seemingly lost all sense of discipline, clearly betting against himself in free agency with Carr and to an extent Jamaal Williams, and even moreso in the draft with Penning, a player who should have been a late day 2/day 3 project?

- Is it because we've completely undercut the culture of blue-collar meritocracy that Payton established with players like Pierre Thomas, Lance Moore and Scott Shanle?

- Is it because Mickey is living off his past laurels and trying to use the sentiment of fans as a weapon against us? Having Jimmy Graham on the team, the one player who was the greatest development story of Payton's whole career, on the roster to do nothing for us rather than just retire?

Which aspects (or others) have you totally fed up? Talk me off the ledge here.
