this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Kind of feeling envious of the Chargers today in that I wish we could get some of the national disdain for Allen that Staley is getting....

“Run it back” with this inept coaching staff for what? Firing Pete in the off season is the easy out. Saints issues are far greater than just the OC. |

All but a small percentage of revenues are shared in the NFL. The model was designed such that any individual franchise cannot suffer financially. The vast majority of league revenues come through the broadcast deals. Those are guaranteed for almost the next decade and are split evenly amongst teams. A portion of a team's ticket sales are kept within house, but the remainder are also shared evenly amongst all franchises. Therefore, even the least attended still get a sizable portion of ticket revenues. Most established franchises (including the Saints) are guaranteed sellouts for years to come. Merchandise is also shared evenly across all franchises. The only revenue source that belongs to the individual franchise is concessions which, on the whole, is a very small percentage of total income. This is why even the worst of franchises are setting records for sales price when transferred to new owners. Believe me, money is not an incentive for change in any individual NFL franchise. Pride, yes. Money, no. The league model has that well in hand. |
