14. New Orleans Saints
JC Latham | OT | Alabama

PFF
14. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: ED JARED VERSE, FLORIDA STATE

Record: 9-8

Top-100 picks: 2 (1st, 2nd)

Player ADP (via MDS): 14.8
The Saints could be in for heavy turnover this offseason, but whether it’s a little or a lot, they need to invest in a difference-making edge rusher. Verse is a powerful player who can win with speed-to-power from three-point and two-point stances. He’s not quite as big as Cam Jordan, but he brings a similar all-around ceiling.

Bleacher Report
14. New Orleans Saints: OT Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma
The New Orleans Saints are in position to address a spot on the roster they thought they had settled for years to come. Unfortunately, offensive tackle isn't as sturdy as they hoped it would be.

"The Saints have typically nailed their draft picks along the offensive line, but they're coming off a potential miss in 2022 first-round pick Trevor Penning," Thorn said. "Right tackle Ryan Ramczyk is one of the team's best players. Unfortunately, a lingering knee issue has put his career in jeopardy, which makes the tackle position a sudden and immediate priority to address.

"Oklahoma's Tyler Guyton has elite size (6'7", 328 lbs) and athletic ability, but he's similarly raw, so this would carry some risk. The bet is on upside, which Guyton absolutely provides with better feet and more natural movement skills in pass protection than Penning. That could provide enough comfort for the team to come back to the tackle table so quickly."

Expectations for an impressive predraft process are baked into Guyton's rise here. He's a work in progress, but he has the necessary traits to become an elite blocker down the road.

Please Please.....no more projects on the O line.

Re: Way too early 2024 mock draft

I don't think we will draft a DE because the front office just signed off on unnecessary early extensions for both Jordan and Granderson who both underachieved. Also Foskey in the 2nd round and Turner appear to be busts. So drafting DE in the 1st round would draw attention to their mistakes. They would rather talk up the potential of the guys they have. If they absolutely had to draft a DE they would move Granderson or Jordan to DT as a PR thing.

Drafting a Tackle would be safer for the front office since we don't have an expensive player at LT and our RT is facing career threatening injuries they can blame on bad luck even though it was forseeable.

I am against drafting TE in the early first round because only one in the history of the NFL has ever been a difference maker for the cost, Tony Gonzalez. Most sure thing cant miss 1st round TE are busts. But the front office is dumb and may do it.

QB will probably not be drafted in the 1st for the same reason as DE, it draws attention to Carr's dumb contract.

I'd shy away from TE too.

LT, RT, DT and BPA at CB/S/WR/OG and a late round kicker or punter if we don't address them in free agency

Saints need two of everything.

And a new punter.

I'd prefer Michigan's Aussie punter over the Saints Aussie punter for sure. CB will be a huge need if the Saints do indeed trade the best CB they've ever had in Lattimore. Man, that would suck.

They can't trade Lattimore till post June and it'll save a whopping 1ml on the cap. They'd be paying him millions to play elsewhere. Only way it'd worth it is a huge haul of multiple picks

I wouldn’t be mad at all if they selected Brock Bowers.

Re: Way too early 2024 mock draft

Solidify the lines.

Brock is elite at the position.

Gotta rework those TE contracts or trade someone if at all possible

Re: Way too early 2024 mock draft

I know nothing about Iowa football however TE's from their program excel QUICKLY at the next level.

Kittle
Fant
TJ Hockenson (134 yards vs Saints)
Sam LaPorta (already a baller as a rookie & had a career vs Saints)

Yeah, I'd start scouting the Hawkeyes first.
