OBSERVATIONS FROM SAINTS VICTORY OVER THE FALCONS (11 MINUTES REMAINING EDITION)

Y’all gonna say, “Carr is looking better”, “There are some bright spots”, “Coulda, woulda, shoulda,” but y’all know that we DIDN’T EARN a Playoff spot, and we can’t blame the Panties, or the Bears, or the Cardinals, for falling short… and NEXT YEAR, with “all the right people in the building”, and a much tougher schedule, there will be more pain. Great game today guys. That’s all.

Discuss…

And before I get accused of being all negative, or saying the same thing over and over again… you KNOW it’s not me you’re annoyed with.

Cut Williams this offseason. I'm sure he's a great guy and all but dang his career flat-out hit the wall. Draft Corum or another capable young back. Other fans are talking WR and TE but I'd most like to see a legit RB, the next Deuce.

At least we finally got something out of Kendre. Add to the depth.

We need a new Head Coach.

It’s time for a youth movement & new coaches.

These guys look and play OLD. Beating up on a terrible team changes nothing in my eyes.

LSU went 10-3 and just fired their ENTIRE defensive staff.
They have the desire and hunger to play for championships.

I just don’t see the vision from the Saints front office.

Dennis Allen is a big reason why we have failed …again.

Given the “soft” schedule & still missing the playoffs and being labeled as “safe” is just wild to me.

Imagine calling yourself a “fan” and whining about a huge win against the Falcons. Can’t be more of a fraud than this turd in the punch bowl.

We're the hottest team in the NFC South! Which is about as impressive as being the healthiest food item at a Five Guys restaurant.

But surely the refs and Roger will help us now, right? LOL

Imagine if a team’s only objective was to beat the Falcons… at least once. Especially when it didn’t matter. That would be special.

Ryan Ramcyzk
Michael Thomas
Andrus Peat
Taysom Hill
James Hurst
Marcus Maye
Jamal Williams
And maybe even Cam Jordan and Marshon Lattimore wouldn’t be on the roster for me next year. I’d also consider moving Alvin Kamara.

Like Major said, time to go young.

I'm positive we'll see some changes, especially on offense. The front office can't be that blind, can they?

Unfortunately, we can't afford to move on from all those players. I wish we could but the way the salary cap works, if you keep a player, you can refinance their salary over 5 years every year, but if they leave the roster everything you financed 4-5 years out comes due at once. Since we restructure every veteran every year, if we cut them we owe 2023 money restructured to 2024-2027, 2022 money restructured to 2024-2026, 2021 money restructured to to 2024-2025, and 2020 money restructured to 2024. If we keep them and restructure we only owe the money restructured to 2024 now and we can restructure their new 2024 money out to 2028. In the long run we owe a lot less if we could move, but because of the way ML has managed the cap we can't afford to move on and get that long term savings because short term we can't afford the early termination fee.

If we had the cap flexibility I agree with moving on from all the players you even mention as maybes except that I think Peat at $4 million for LT is a good value unless we are able to take a sure-fire not-raw Day 1 ready LT in the 1st round. It would be irresonsible to pursue an expensive LT in free agency and we have a tendency to pursue projects in the draft, so keeping Peat as an option at LT may be smart. He is not a guard though.

Precisely why I think we keep Popeys Sammich Peat as a decent back up. Hurst too. And Crab Legs (he just restructured).

We're still over the cap by about $90 million or so.

If we could’ve won one more game we wouldn’t have to count on the Cards and Bears to win a spot for us!!! The Saints organization appears to be riding the short bus!!! Fire the entire coaching staff and bring in a good reliable coach and give him the money to pay for a good OC and DC! I’ve said for a while we need to get rid of Thomas and now Lattimore! We need a QB and not someone’s booty brother!!!

In the last game, we show what type of team this can be if it's coached right.

Too little too late

Sad state of circumstances to have come to deal with. He’s been a warrior and arguably the best RT ever. I’d need to Lo a little research on the history of the position.

Have Saints fans in general become so used to a small amount of years of being a winning franchise to not understand the years all franchises experience at not being the cream of the crop? It sucks based on recent history at our lack of dominance. But do you guys live in a bubble? NE is a prime example of how great things end currently, and we haven’t come close to touch what they’ve done as a franchise.

So, Bears up by 3 and Seahawks up by 3. Not that any of it matters.

We all give a chit... which is why we deal/cope the disparate ways we do. Success has spoiled us a bit. Same for NE fans. But they're fixing to draft a QB high, maybe even JD5. So BB will right his ship sooner than we will, in all likelihood.

If I’m paying attention to production, I have to consider moving on from
Jamal Williams this off season. He barely averages 2 ypc today, meanwhile the younger K Miller has better vision & explosion.

Don’t know the money side (cap) of Williams, but you can get his type of production from undrafted free agent RBs fresh out of college.

His signing while seemingly a good one at first wound up being a swing and a miss. Saints overpaid.

In other news the Eagles are getting clapped by the Giants 24-0. If we could sneak in the playoffs we'd have a good shot of dispatching those fuggers.

Which is kind of the case with our team in general over the past handful of years. Sure we were winning games under Payton during that time, but did we really, honestly, have a chance? I thought after the Viking and then the Rams loss, the vibe just changed. We need change, real change.

Thanks for the chuckle.

If what I am reading about that last TD is true, then Crab Legs may have blew any chance of him coming back to the team. According to the reports, he was told to take a knee and he obviously didn't.

No we absolutely do not. Remember we lost 3 straight games win we won it all. The Eagles are like that. This game only effects their playoff picture if the Cowboys lose to the Redskins (Cowboys are up 35-10) so the Eagles are treating it like a by and have now pulled starters. We are not beating the Eagles in a real game.
