Worst Performance of All Time?
Where does this stinkfest rank in the Saints all time worst performances?
I can think of a few bad ones, including: Last year's debacle against the Broncos (I actually was at this one) when Benson said a bunch of high schoolers could have beaten them. Two years ago against Indianapolis on Sunday night football, Manning lit us up for like 6 touchdowns. This year against Minnesota-A total team blowup against a winlist and rudderless team. Any playoff game against the Vikings. Any game in the Ditka Era. Here's the thing. I have been watching Saints games for 25 years now, and this is the very first one where I was so upset I just sat there and laughed. If I hadn't just laughed it off I would have jumped out of my window or something. This team has made me punch walls, break chairs, beds, windows, fences, you name it. I have actually yelled obsenitys at the TV thinking the coaching staff could hear me. Well during this one I just turned off the TV and left the room, a first for me. That in of itself makes this the worst performance in Saints history for me. I would like to hear if there may be any I am forgetting, so maybe I can find a ray of sunshine for this season. |

RE: Worst Performance of All Time?
very few times in 38 years have i turned one off but i did this one before the first half ended. i didn't want to get anymore sick than i was.
this would be a great thread, worst saint losses in history. the one that comes to me first is on a monday night game in 1979 against the raiders. up 28-7 at the half and ended up losing 42-35. it was during the first promise of having a real competitive team- thunder 'n lightning, archie as nfc mvp, etc. it seemed like it kicked the wind out of the team so bad in week #14 that it lead to 0-35 loss the next week and the 1-15 the next season. |
