Another former Raider huh? Is Loomis just becoming "lazy" nowadays?

Saints need to consider younger, innovative coaches as well.

We need to be on Hard Knocks this season. I'd like to see the day to day operations on Airline Drive :p.

Idk. If you’re gonna go with Gruden (not my first or 2nd choice) fine. Just get rid of Carmichael. Good grief. Just get rid of him!

Gruden is a hint that Carr is staying. Carr was his QB in Oakland all 3 years.

I don’t think they could move Carr anyway. Without costing a ton. But if Gruden is whispering plays to PC, then PC is telling Carr, then cut out the middle man and **** can him. I feel like they don’t wanna hurt PC’s feelings.

Sounds like fun, but we’re starting to become like a bad TikTok Soap Opera.

No hint needed. The contract alone guarantees Carr is staying. Besides, Carr isn't as bad as some of you try to make others believe. He is a very respectable QB when given decent protection and decent play calling. He isn't Brees, but who is? He way better than what we've put up with the last few years, including Brees' final season. The only thing that kept Brees somewhat relevant was Payton's play design and play calling. We all know Brees' arm was gone and his savvy was the only thing keeping him above water.

Re: Report: Saints considering adding Jon Gruden to offensive staff

Nick Underhill reported afterwards that the meeting was seen as "some friends meeting for dinner"

Not discounting it, as it may happen, but doesn't sound written in stone just yet.

Also Jeff Duncan reported that after Allen's press conference, Loomis called a meeting with players only and discussed changes moving forward.

Apparently, changes were "well received" by some players.

We all knew Brees’ arm was gone a long time ago, so we got savvy and took what the Raiders tossed to the curb. Don’t let that little bit of “poof” at the end of our ridiculous season fog up your rose colored glasses.

This entire coaching staff underachieved, QB included.

Gruden (though IMO he's on the right side of it) is persona non grata in the NFL and the Saints are an NFL franchise. The views of Gruden by the NFL can only get worse. It'd be a colossal mistake to bring him or even Jay on board. Even if Gruden was Vince Lombardi and Don Shula rolled into one we can't hire him from a business standpoint.

Not a fan. If you're going to bring him in, just make him the Head Coach. Will take Pierce from the Raiders though.

I’m not opposed to Gruden, just think we can do better.

Guess we need to wait for something official but in one article I read it basically implied that Carmichael would remain OC and Gruden would be an assistant. ????

Carr is consistently inconsistent ... another JAG, as his performance this season, proved... Reference Kenny Stabler..... :beatnik:

Saints are now a, "put out to pasture" football organization. For has been players. .... pre retirement/old folks home.

^^^ This right here.

Don't just make a "lazy" hire because he had a previous relationship with Carr from years back.

There are some good, young offensive minds out there. Go find one.

The "continuity" angle is played. Saints are sitting at home for a reason.

It's way past time for fresh innovative young minds to be brought onto Airline Dr.

I actually Agree with that we just have the wrong coaching staff

Gruden was an advisor in training camp 2023. It didn't help.
I'm skeptical.

Wouldn't a new OC want to bring in his own staff and not be handcuffed to a previous hire?

Depends on what the present staff looks like, and who is available. I can see brining in a QB coach that knows your system a very strong consideration.

You watch them upgrade Ronald Curry to OC

He knows the system, keep the gang together etc

Re: Report: Saints considering adding Jon Gruden to offensive staff

Perhaps the Saints need a checklist.
Step 1. Fire Carmichael
Step 2: Make Gruden OC

Comes with the territory when we don't have a term limit on our GM!

Re: Report: Saints considering adding Jon Gruden to offensive staff

The more I think about decisions in the coaching staff the more they make sense. I was one who wanted Allen and everyone gone after the season, but now that I sit back and look at it and realize we are stuck with Carr for at least another year I guess it makes sense to keep everything the status quo and just make a few modifications. The last thing Carr needs is major change again because it’s seems like that has pretty much been his career in a nutshell. Bringing on Gruden brings a little more stability and leaves Carmichael in the building playing a role he is more accustomed to, game planning and hopefully not mid game play calling and adjustments. However, if this does not work this year then you clear house completely, Carmichael, DA, Carr and any other bad apples. I’m willing to settle for one more year and just grit may teeth, but this draft better be off the charts.

Beautiful song. I'm surprised nobody took advantage of this. I'm sure BostonSaint would have.

Re: Report: Saints considering adding Jon Gruden to offensive staff

I won't be surprised if Carmichael comes back next year. Her got better as the season went on when he finally started doing thing that were obvious to the fans and media. Maybe he can come up with a good game plan for the first half too if he has Gruden telling him that he needs to shake things up.

It's not what I want to see. I want to see DA gone and Carmichael back with his buddy in Denver. But, alas.....

Chuckie as OC would make us one of the best teams in the league if we can keep things together.

“Keeping things together” is why this team is at home in mid January and not competing in the post season on Sunday.

I see proven coaches (Belichick, Carroll & Vrabel) being run out of town and the Saints leadership sitting around chilling .

2024 will be ugly for Saints nation.

coaching...lmao;
as if the saints' football organization would SERIOUSLY consider changing their coaching staff; or even possibly, be willing, to think about .... coaching.... ha ha ha...

Something new to rag on; other than Michael Thomas, the prima donna... awesome. :beatnik:

lets go there for next year's main topic of conversation... less distraction on the players... ya know

Coaching... thats the ticket!!!!:bng:

What if the Saints are actually bringing in Jon Gruden to takeover as HC and demoting DA to DC? Or at the very least having Gruden in place to take over after next year, if things go south?

I would like this though it would never happen. I'd like to have Antonio Pierce as HC too. Shoot, other former players turned coaches like Vrabel, Pederson, and Reich would likely be solid additions to this team.
The order of HC candidates that I'd like to see in Black and Gold next year.
Gruden
Pierce
Pederson
Vrabel
Reich
