Expectations of new OC & digesting the playbook

I know these guys are pro's, however, executing a new offense and remembering the playbook will be a challenge in itself.

What are ya'lls realistic expectations on the players picking up this offense and running it like a well oiled machine?

With the flack that Carr took, he will be behind the 8 ball in 2024 doing a reset. My concern with this past season was that we could not get in rhythm with a very vanilla west coast offensive scheme. Any pre-snap motion, players lining up correctly, and O-line blocking assignments come to mind as hurdles we might see early on in the season.

I am sure this will be used as an excuse for Derek Carr being as inconsistent as Derek Carr has always been. Then Carr will begin to improve at the end of the season when the pressure is off because we no longer control our own destiny and he can play stress free with our chances depending on other teams and even more stress free when we are eliminated. This improvement will be taken as cause for optimism that he will excel in 2025 when he finally gets 2 years in the same system, since we wont be able to afford the dead cap of cutting him anyway. Same old, same old. Chopping wood.

The run game has been poor last couple of seasons. Former Saints RB (recently hired with the Giants) coach Joel Thomas was probably on his way out anyways.

Saints need to get better here.

I totally agree. We have been poor as **** at running the ball the last couple of years. We have a player like Kamara and don't utilise him in a good way on the ground.

Good thing the offensive line has nothing to do with the run game, that way we can change RB coach, fix everything, and keep our incredible oline coach Doug Marrone who has done such an excellent job developing Trevor Penning, taking only a few years to put Andrus Peat and James Hurst in their correct positions, and turning 1st round picks into stars like Ruiz and middle round picks into servicable players like the excellent contributions Saldiveri made this season while inactive.

But seriously we could have prime Adrian Peterson as our starting RB and SB coach Gary Kubiak as our RB coach and we couldn't run behind this oline.

It kind of makes you wonder why no one else is asking to interview Douggie Marrone. Or an even better question would be what the hell is he still doing in New Orleans? I guess they are going to let the new OC fire him.

I think you are actually right on base with this one. Whomever we finally settle on will undoubtedly have a tremendous amount of input upon who helps run his offense as far as coaching goes.

Our offense looked a lot better as we started utilizing our TE more. That's something we definitely need to continue doing regardless of who our OC is. Utilizing the TE was always a big part of Carr's success and we abandoned that for half the season.

What's up brother! I definitely will. I won't be picky of any adult beverage. Olde English 40's all day with some crawfish.
