Looking forward to seeing if the offense improves following this complete department overhaul. I think they should.

Does need to be said though, I don't want to hear "Carr is getting used to the new offense" as an excuse if he plays badly.

The guy has been in the league for 10 or 11 years now. He played very well down the stretch, but he needs to do it against playoff caliber teams, instead of stat padding against teams on our level.

Carr is definitely used to change. He has now had six different head coaches and six different offensive coordinators in his career.

CJ Stroud had to get used to a new head coach, new offensive coordinator, new team, new system, and newly playing in the NFL on one of its recently worst teams at 21 years old and it took him 1 week for his QB rating to surpass Carr's for the rest of the season in a tougher division with a tougher schedule. He did have some jitters when he threw his first interception in week 6. This is the class of QB we are competing against. No excuses. Carr is an old pro. If Stroud gets a week to adjust, Carr gets a quarter.

I like the way you think Smash. We really have no idea what we have in Jake Haener after only one offseason as the #3 QB who practiced with third stringers. He didn't get any reps last year, so it's all guess work at this point. Nick Underhill said he looked really good in practice but overall he wasn't very accurate and didn't make the right reads.

It would be great if he could be the backup this year and we could focus our limited resources elsewhere in free agency. I was impressed with his Moxy and I want to see more of it. I understand that he's very smart and picks things up quickly. Kubiak might have a lot of success with either Carr or Haener. I'm hoping for success from both.

Great move imo. Offense will be much improved. Carr will be who we expected him to be.

That was my point when earliest of all maybe two/three games in the numbers were awful. As a veteran, like Brees was when he came in, except Carr was more of a veteran, he should have done more, adjusted more, plain performed much better. His performance definitely did not match his cap charge. It may still not match it. If there is zero improvement, will Kubiak have the courage to make a change at QB with the young Haener? Or will the football Gods make it such that the path will be made clear as it was in the case of the Whiners with their injury woes at QB.

Brock Bowers will 90% be a bust. One tight end drafted in the first round since 1980 has been a great player: Tony Gonzalez. All the other great tight ends to enter the league since 1980 have come in later rounds: Gronk, Sharpe, Gates, Kelce, Graham, Whitten, Kittle, etc. Its an important position. A great TE makes a big difference. Bowers was great in college. But its not a position where college greatness predicts pro greatness. Some team is going to pass up a real difference maker and almost certainly get something in the range of Vernon Davis (ok, two pro bowls, decent player, but you would always rather have a star receiver) to Kellen Winslow Jr (rotting in jail). Once a person gets the glory and fame of coming into the league as a top 10 or so pick, they aren't going be to willing to take the hits over the middle from NFL linebackers and safeties that a later pick with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove will, and if by rare chance they are willing, one of those hits may break them.
