Former Saints Players Who Are In the UFL Right Now
At least 18 Saints players are in the new United Football League that will debut on March 30. Here's who's on each team. JOHN HENDRIX 11 MINUTES AGO The United Football League is right around the corner. It will at least help fill some of the void left behind from the NFL season wrapping up, and there's certainly some intrigue to the combined forces of the XFL and USFL. The UFL Rosters are taking shape, and with there being just over a month to go, there's some Saints flavor to some of them. Here's some of the New Orleans ties on the current rosters of the eight teams. See all the familiar names here ... |

Whats really disturbing are the former Saints playing in the NFL right now.
Hendrickson, Anzaolone, CJGJ Onyemata, Roach, Tuttle, etc Maybe our problem isn't so much picking talent as it its keeping the right ones. |

Trey only managed TWO sacks in his first two years ... less than Turner over the same period. Hendrickson was labeled by some in this forum as a bust. Now he's one of the best in the league. |

Agreed on Hendrickson, CJGI. Anzalone was always injured here. Onyemata was getting older, Roach and Tuttle are rotational pieces. The one I always go to is Al Woods, our 5th rounder who wound up having a double digit career. It feels like we wasted drafting assets on our trade ups. On the other hand, the J E T S , our farm team, has always been good to us.

In 2021 we traded two third round picks to move up for Adebo. That was a good trade. We traded a sixth and a seventh for Landon Young. Meh trade. In 2020 we traded two third round picks and a seventh round pick to move up for Zach Baun. Another meh trade we didn't know how to use until Cam went down. We traded a fourth round pick, sixth round pick, and two seventh round picks for Adam Trautman. Bad trade. Traded a sixth and seventh round for Tommy Stevens. Bad trade. In 2019 we traded two second round, a fourth round, and a sixth round for Eric McCoy and a fourth round pick. Good trade. Traded third round and sixth round for Teddy Bridgewater. Good trade. Traded a fourth and a seventh round for Eli apple. OK move. We did get Kaden Ellis in the seventh round. Good enough trade. In 2018 we traded two first round draft picks and one fifth rounder to move up for Marcus Davenport. :nuff said. In 2017 We traded Brandon Cooks and a fourth round pick. We got Ramczyk in the first round and found Trey Hendrickson(T-Rex) in that draft. Good trade. We traded a second round and a seventh to move up for AK in the third round. Home run trade. We traded Stephon Anthony for a fifth round pick. No trade benefit. This was our best draft class since 2006 and gave us the talent to overcome three back to back 7-9 seasons. It's time to nail another draft. Kubiak needs some ammo. Let's give it to him! |

As I stated before, it's almost like a casino where the house always wins. You might get lucky as many do once in a blue moon. We need a greater level of consistency. Jeff Ireland has helped some of late. Maybe this new coaching blood will help too. | |

This isn't to say lower picks can't be successful, but statistically fewer are. Numbers may show a 2nd rounder has a 1 in 3 chance at being a success. And the numbers may show a 5th rounder has a 1 in 10 chance of being a success. Statistically speaking, that means that one 2nd rounder (1:3 or 33.3%) has a slightly greater chance of being a success than any of three 5th rounders (3:10 or 30%). In this case trading a 2nd rounder for three 5th rounders would statistically lower your chances of obtaining a successful player.
I've seen varying definitions of "successful", but the principle holds true. |
