Saints sign Chase Young

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Well, Chase had 7-1/2 sacks last year. I would be happy to get 8-10 from him in 2024. I'm pretty sure he will be a rotational DE for us....

As Triplett and Underhill said, 7.5 sacks is what Granderson had last year, too. If we get another Granderson out of Young it'll be a good deal. But, who knows, hopefully Cam will be healthy coming off that ankle he struggled with all season last year and Granderson keeps developing and we have premier pass rush again. And I'm not counting Foskey or Kpassagnon out of the mix either. And that's not even counting Turner if he was able to stay healthy.

The Saints were ranked 31st in pass rush efficiency for 2023.

Chase will help.

I’d still target a DE in the draft though (1st or 2nd).

What excites me the most is that he is only 24. He still should have 2--4 years of development before him. Best case scenario he turns into the player the Commanders hope they drafted and produces a 10+ sack season before signing a longer contract with us and becoming a starter for 5+ years.

I hope he absolutely explodes this year but at the same time, I'm scared of the type of contract he'll command and how he performs once he gets it(if we're the one giving it to him).

Let's just hope for a great season first.

Bingo! That's my biggest fear too. He could ball out next year and sign a lucrative contract and then get lazy again.

Hopefully he performs well enough to net a 3rd round comp pick when he moves on

Woof!

Reassessing the 49ers' Trade for Chase Young

The 49ers thought Young would play hard for them because they were a Super Bowl contender. Wrong. They also thought Young would play hard because he was reuniting with Nick Bosa, his college teammate. Wrong. As Washington already knew, nothing could motivate Young to play hard. Even in the NFC Championship Game, he jogged around the field during touchdown runs. The Commanders must have laughed.
This offseason, the 49ers didn't even offer Young a contract -- they were done with him. And so he signed with the New Orleans Saints, who are going nowhere. A perfect spot for him.

Re: Saints sign Chase Young

as long as he doesn't show up to training camp wearing a Halo and Depends, I'm good with it. Still some mild concerns, but a flyer on a 1 year deal for this cat, what the hell. Some good upside.
