I can see 12 and I can see 7. So many contingencies and variables to this season...

BS Contractors.... ok, then shame on the Saints Organization for not knowing the better contractor .... again if true, piss poor on their part. :beatnik:

That's actually a good question. Who got to pick said contractor? Saints, Superdome, State?

I was wondering that myself Smash. Since the Saints have no ownership stake in the SD (None that I am aware of anyway), it would likely be that the bidding process and contractor choice would NOT be part of the Saint’s role in the process. That’s just my guess though. But if you rent a house that needs work you don’t choose the contractor….the owner does.

"Louisiana Stadium & Exposition District is a political subdivision created under Louisiana law. The board's primary purpose is to plan, finance, construct, develop, maintain and operate facilities located within the District for events of public interest."

The State via the LSED selected the contractor. This was all on the LSED and, in turn, the State. As much as someone wants to blame the Saints for anything, all they did was withhold one payment until they got an explanation for the contracted work being done. That payment was in part related to an overage to the initial estimate. I read and heard that there was also a question about the LSED possibly "co-mingling" funds with other separate projects. Very bad, if indeed true.

The team also appears to have taken advantage of the situation to use that leverage in the new lease negotiations which will extend through the 2035 season.

This now addressed issue was all on the LSED and not on the Saints, to the chagrin of some. But, then again, haters will always find an excuse to hate.

;)

“Exactly” confirms that the “Owner” chooses to continue to profit from BS. Why fans applaud this and adore her, I’ll never figure out.

In this case, what choice does she have? Its no shock that there could be corruption in large public construction contracts in Louisiana. So if she does not want to deal with this BS it would seem that her options would be to move the team outside the state of Louisiana, self-finance her own stadium in the New Orleans region for at least $1 billion cash which she does not have and deal with permitting BS, or seek public funding for a new stadium the team could control, which would not likely be popular with enough votes. And to do any of these things she would have to navigate the team's existing Superdome lease which is negotiated many years in advance and risk letting it expire to time a stadium building effort or move to 2030 or whatever. I think the whole reason the state keeps upgrading the Superdome instead of building new is that its easier to embezzle from renovations where costs are harder to compare and more variable, but I don't think the Saints can do anything about it.

One thing that the Saints can do about it is withhold a payment until they get answers. They did just that.
