I think Nick Underhill mentioned something about guaranteed money paid out to previous UDFA. Basically, we've paid out some serious money to UDFA's who never made the team or were cut prior to the end of camp. RB Abram Smith got a sizable UDFA deal and he didn't even make the PS. There was also a WR who ended up in Philly when we cut him. But there are also some successes as Shaheed got like 200k to come here and that was a huge hit for the team. So guaranteed money paid is just a tool to attract the players for an extended tryout IMO.

To clarify it was $222k guaranteed money. For an UDFA in the NFL the average in guaranteed money is only $45k. So, because of the guaranteed amount it was "serious money" especially when he was only around for TC and a few preseason games?
