Re: UDFA signings

The Athletic: Brugler's "Beast" has Holker as the 12th-best tight end and with a sixth-round grade. Despite that grade, Brugler does not have Holker being selected in his seven-round mock.

ESPN: Reid has Holker as a sixth-round pick, going No. 220 overall (end of sixth round) to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

ESPN: Kiper lists Holker as the 10th-best tight end.

NFL.com: Reuter has Holker going in the fifth round, No. 172 overall to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dallin Holker

Athletic & Physical Measurables

Mason Tipton ran a 4.33 40 yard dash at his pro day, which included a 1.46 10 yard split.

He put up 12 bench reps, a 37″ vertical, 125″ broad jump, 7.05 cone drill, and 4.22 shuttle time.

Official Measurements:

Age: 23
Height: 5’9 7/8″
Weight: 179
Hand: 9 1/8″
Arm: 29 1/2″
Wingspan: 71″ (5’11”)
40 Yard Dash: 4.33
10 Yard Split: 1.46
Bench: 12
Vertical: 37″
Broad: 125″
Cone: 7.05
Shuttle: 4.22

Tipton

Has the natural power to move defenders at the point of attack. He also has the agility and speed to get out in front and land blocks at the second level. He also shows a good understanding of angles when climbing to the second level.

Hergel thrives on physicality, often out-grappling bigger defensive linemen and winning in the phone booth with tenacity and upper-body strength.

Kyle Hergel

Re: UDFA signings

Hayball any good ?

papz 04-27-2024 07:01 PM

Re: UDFA signings

Hayball

Strengths
Finished fourth in the FBS with 47.6 yards per punt in 2023.
Adequate touch with low touchback percentage on coffin punts.
Carves field coverage in half with his directional punting.
Punt distance comes consistently from flight over roll.

Weaknesses
Relies on delayed punts instead of hang time to help coverage team.
Needs to prove he can punt with much better hang time on the next level.
Below average expediting operation quickness against pressure.

Re: UDFA signings

The first post has Holker as a TE. The second says he is 5'9" and 180 lbs. That ain't no TE.

Here’s to hoping Holker shows something.

Some scouts had him going in rounds 5-7.

I was kinda hoping Saints would bring in Drake Stoops. Great hands, gets open, perfect for slot.

He's 6-3, 241

Overview
Pass-catching tight end who exploded on the scene at Colorado State after three years of pedestrian production at BYU. Holker lacks the size and grit for in-line blocking but can handle positional blocks in space. He has average play speed but might be able to crank it up a notch with better attention to it. Holker has the focus and ball skills to make the contested catch and should be capable of running most first- and second-level routes a team needs. Holker's production provides a window into his pass-catching ability, but he's a very limited blocker and appears to have a ceiling as a TE3/4.

Strengths
Natural athlete in space with good feel for making grabs in traffic.
Long arms and big hands improve catch success outside his frame.
Body control and focus allowed him to put some highlight-reel grabs on tape.
Proved to be a reliable, high-volume target when aligned in the slot.
Comes off the snap with good pad level as a run blocker.
Weaknesses
Will need to run routes with better focus on maintaining play speed.
Will drift on zone routes, causing unnecessary contested catches.
Fairly tough but not very dynamic after the catch.
Decelerates into contact as a lead blocker.
Lacks aggression and strain as a point-of-attack blocker.

Surprised we didn't draft or sign any rookie RB's yet.

apparently they hate LSU... but LSU and Bama have the most active NFL players. Strange team to hate.

Which one of these guys is our diamond in the rough? We seem to find one every year after the draft when we are working the phone and writing checks. We haven't scouted well in the first round but we absolutely nail the UDFA's.

I know I'm rooting for Holker. I just don't know if I want hoim to catch passes or if Imma just give him a shield and sword and head off in the longboat to invade England.

All 3 of the O-lineman signed as UDFA's are interior linemen. Should we read anything into that? I mean, we need depth, but I thought we would grab another tackle or two.

I’m pulling for Latu.

I don’t know what’s crazier! The fact that he thought he could catch the next ball already holding one or that he forgot to drop it in the first place! I will take both answers! I think he will be a top 5 TE this season! He doesn’t know how to drop a football and he knows how to do the impossible! Best signing this year! I’ve been watching games and he is good!

It's the Abramowicz and Biletnikoff fan in me. Root for the small, white WR's. :)

I looked over his high lights and he is surprisingly smooth when he catches the ball. He looks like another great value pick this year.

All the draft reports say he's got a lot of improvement needed in the blocking game. So basically, another pass catching TE which we already have in Juwan. And with our OL potentially starting a rookie RT and praying Penning improves drastically at LT, and a new OC who has stated he wants to run first... Having another WR/TE is a luxury IMO. Moreau is really the only "traditional" TE on the roster right now. We all saw Juwan struggle last season in his continued transition. It will be an interesting camp watch to see if they just roll with three TE's or bring in another Vet TE that can block the zone scheme?

Developmental player with practice squad potential for right now. Lalos is also in the same category.
