Those guys are just mean and will chase you for no reason other than looking for a fight.
We actually had a side job collecting rattlers and selling them by the pound. Simply get a squeeze bottle full of gasoline. Spray it deep in a rattlesnake den, light it and wait or then to come out. We had a long pole with a noose on one end and would collect them and put them in a tow sack while some with welding gloves held the tow sack. That was the scariest part. The snakes were sold for their meat, skins, and venom to make an anti venom for snake bites. I'm really surprise that I was never bitten. There were literally hundreds of opportunities almost every day. They even crawled up in your boots if you left them outside. The Texas slogan is don't tread on me.
Give me a rattler....preferably a diamond back. At least you now where they are and what they're thinking.
This just make me happy to be living in a country with nothing with significant venon, poison or jaws. I mean i could be savaged by a otter or chased by a swan at worst
