Watched Haener play one weekend in 2021, never heard of him before that day. We were visiting family that lived in Fresno and they had a Granddaughter performing on on Fresno Cheer Squad.
I have said this before from my view Haener has all the tools to succeed, mobility, accuracy, good arm strength, processing speed and will stand in the pocket and take the hit to get the ball away.
I have read elsewhere that San Fran had him ranked ahead of Purdy in 2022 … how did that turn out. You just never know.

That's saying something ... but of course San Fran system & commitment to winning is on a whole different level.
Purdy is like 17-4 (SB appearance) in only 2 seasons

So are you saying that this is the last season we have to watch Carr start on Sundays :p?
Just from looking at his career stats, he has been about as mediocre as they come at the QB position.

Carr has hit his ceiling as evidenced last year. We've already discussed ad nauseum the many reasons why and just how adroit the Raiders were in moving on. Still as crazy as it sounds and particularly how insane and meteoric the QB salaries have now become, his cap cost does not seem now too un-overcomeable.
If the Saints are smart cap wise, they'll move on from Carr after this year, since his contract is essentially a two year deal with some dead $. If something happens like it did in San Francisco... I mean Santa Clara, we're similarly positioned to have our young QB room take over and never look back. Rattler is a bonus. We've seen already that he needs some time in the system. Haener has had the benefit of that time. And as you saw in the Mariuci video, he's plenty smart. In college he's exhibited the ability to wring victory out of the jaws of defeat. Not too many QBs over the years, pro or college, have had that not so subtle but important trait. I can think of four names off the top of my head: Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes. Not enough tape on Purdy yet to include him
Also, if Carr shows little to no improvement in this new Kubiak led offense, one could argue, he needs to be on a short leash and become a sideline cheerleader in favor of Pretty Boy Haener. Whiners had the cojones to stick with Brock Purdy when the rest of the QB room was healthy.
