Fuaga
Saldivieri
McCoy
Ruiz
Penning

I don’t mind seeing what that looks like. At the very least it’s a youth movement.

I've got a feeling Haener ends up being the backup and Rattler takes Haener's spot on the practice squad. From everything I and hearing and reading both Carr and Haener are looking really sharp and Rattler's looking pretty raw.

In that case, Rattler will be picked off the squad. That means 3 active roster QBs if they want to keep him, 4 counting Taysom.

Always thought Pretty Boy Haener had the goods. We'll see in preseason how he looks.

Not really. Each team can protect four players every week on their practice squad. Those players cannot be signed by other teams. A QB is almost always one of those players.

NFL practice squad, explained: Rules, pay, roster limit, and more

Watched Haener play one weekend in 2021, never heard of him before that day. We were visiting family that lived in Fresno and thay had a Granddaughter performing on on Fresno Cheer Squad.

I have said this before from my view Haener has all the tools to succeed, mobility, accuracy, good arm strength, processing speed and will standin the pocket and take the hit to get the ball away.

I have read elsewhere that SanFan had him ranked ahead of Purdy in 2022 … how did that turn out. You just never know.

So are you saying that this is the last season we have to watch Carr start on Sundays :p?

Just from looking at his career stats, he has been about as mediocre as they come at the QB position.

That's saying something ... but of course San Fran system & commitment to winning is on a whole different level.

Purdy is like 17-4 (SB appearance) in only 2 seasons

Carr has hit his ceiling as evidenced last year. We've already discussed ad nauseum the many reasons why and just how adroit the Raiders were in moving on. Still as crazy as it sounds and particularly how insane and meteoric the QB salaries have now become, his cap cost does not seem now too un-overcomeable.

If the Saints are smart cap wise, they'll move on from Carr after this year, since his contract is essentially a two year deal with some dead $. If something happens like it did in San Francisco... I mean Santa Clara, we're similarly positioned to have our young QB room take over and never look back. Rattler is a bonus. We've seen already that he needs some time in the system. Haener has had the benefit of that time. And as you saw in the Mariuci video, he's plenty smart. In college he's exhibited the ability to wring victory out of the jaws of defeat. Not too many QBs over the years, pro or college, have had that not so subtle but important trait. I can think of four names off the top of my head: Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes. Not enough tape on Purdy yet to include him

Also, if Carr shows little to no improvement in this new Kubiak led offense, one could argue, he needs to be on a short leash and become a sideline cheerleader in favor of Pretty Boy Haener. Whiners had the cojones to stick with Brock Purdy when the rest of the QB room was healthy.

Re: Official 2024 Saints OTA News and Discussion

Almost forgot about Juwan ... I think we're set at the TE position group if you count the rookie sensation UDFA Dallin Holker out of Colorado St. The other taller lanky kid Michael Jacobson, also a former basketball player at Iowa St, will have to ride the practice squad for now. Not too many 6'7" guys that can move and catch the end zone jump ball. Too bad Grambeaux was not utilized as he should have been last year. Tommy Hudson was brought in last year and is a potential for special teams. Foster Moreau's last chance to shine this year. Like so many of our free agent TEs, they haven't been worth their contract. Still pulling for the former LSU product.

From the sound of things we are ahead of the learning curve with a new OC and looking good doing it. I'm still worried about both lines though. We know the story line about the bad O line play last year and the trouble stopping the run or running QB's. I'm thinking that Kubiak has his boys ready to run faster than expected. I hope so anyway.

Over the last 10 seasons the Niners have had seasons of 6, 6, 5, 4, and 2 wins. Those low showing seasons and resulting draft position advantages have set them up for a recent run of success. Since 2017 they have had the 2nd overall pick, the 3rd (twice) and the 9th.

During this same time span the Saints have never had a season with fewer than 7 wins. That includes Allen’s 2 seasons. Since 2017 their highest pick has been 11 (twice).

San Fran’s winning formula is suck for a while, get good drafts and win. Saints can’t duplicate this because they haven’t made themselves perform as poorly as the Niners did to get where they are yet. Doesn’t take a genius to draft Bosa.

We need to suck for a few more seasons, not bad enough to get a real Head Coach, but bad enough to hopefully draft better. Yeah that’s the ticket.

I think the sinner guy just voted that he wants to not only NOT win the NFCS, but to suck horribly. Is that just because of his hatred for Dennis Allen or ... whatever?

What a sorry excuse for a supposed fan.

Just set that sinner guy to IGNORE. It has worked so well before. Let two grown a$$ men have a conversation without your shaking damned head getting involved.
