The team could also be taking extra time to evaluate Johnson after he missed time in training camp. He is coming off a disappointing season and is one of the few veterans where the Saints could actually save money off this years cap if he were cut. The Saints have a lot of young TEs, Moreau's salary is guaranteed, Johnson has been injury prone lately, and nobody has stood out.

I am glad Johnson is playing well in the practice. If he looked slow and dropped a bunch of balls though, I would cut him.
