Realistically our offense only getting in range for 4 field goals and 1 XP in two preseason games, and Smyth only getting one of those attempts, and Grupe not missing any of his either, really limits the competition in the kicker battle. How could we cut the incumbent kicker with 0 misses in preseason in favor of a rookie kicker who we only tested for 1 attempt in preseason and has no past resume to show he can kick under NFL pressure? It would be much more of a competition if these were high scoring preseason games and someone missed a kick.

Best option IMO is to keep Grupe as the active kicker and exercise the exemption option to keep Smyth around too.

Maybe he can punt? F*ck Lou Hedley.
Now we have somewhat of a punter and 2 kickers.

“our offense only getting in range for 4 field goals and 1 XP in two preseason games,” is showing us, and the rest of the league, that our offense is weak.

not disagreeing with anything your stating, but two stupid, meaningless preseason games doesn't necessarily mean much to me. Our offense may end up being a real turd fest, but i don't think these games show much, hell, we have a new OC, that's gonna take a bit of time. Like some here, I'm not sold on what we have, we will know soon enough, but think its a little early.
