Week One: Panthers @ Saints

Way early, but game one news is coming out now.

Sinner 08-27-2024 03:54 PM

Re: Week One: Panthers @ Saints

With Dennis Allen and Derek Carr at the helm, and with this being our home opener, ALL EYES are on us. Let me say right out the gate, THIS IS BIG. REALLY BIG. I want so badly to come out swinging, and I want to WIN. PERIOD. If we lose this one, don’t dare call me a “Hater”. I’ll be here all season. Saints need to SHOW UP!

Agree completely, Sinner. New year, fresh new expectations. Improvements on offense and on defense alike. If they can't make major steps forward I'll change my tune.

Who Dat!!

It’s imperative they get this W. The next few weeks are going to be rough. Handle business at home against a lesser opponent.

I can't help but feel this is gonna be a tough out. I would not be shocked if we lose this one.

Re: Week One: Panthers @ Saints

The Panthers made six waiver claims today which means they have to trim six players off their "final" 53 following yesterday's cuts.

I agree only if they come out soft and play from behind with stupid mistakes.

Come out swinging and this SHOULD be the first win over a tough beginning season schedule! Let's GEAUX!!!!!!

You're an astute individual. Curious to know what gives you that sense other than just a gut feeling

Agreed!!

We're gonna get punched. How well do we take it and are we able to throw enough to win in the end?

1st game of the year so both teams will be trying to find out what works and what doesn't. 1st games are pretty sloppy and a mistake here and there can cost you a game.

Carolina probably wants this game more than we do, or at least we're probably taking it for granted that they're an inferior team. I believe Payton used to comment on these types of games saying "don't eat the cheese".

If Carolina could pick a week to beat us, it would be week 1 of the new season.

I still think we'll probably win, but an upset isn't out of the question.

Re: Week One: Panthers @ Saints

I really think this Panthers' team is being a tad bit overhyped here. They were the worst team in the league last year by a decent margin. They've done little to improve much. They just claimed six players off of waivers meaning they have to cut six players from their 53 man roster to make room. Three of the six were CB's. We should win this game and win it easily. Yet I expect our Saints to come out firing on all cylinders.

Based on your perspective, and everything you wrote, if we LOSE this one…
DAT BE SOME BAD NEWS.

Of course it would be bad news. So would a asteroid hitting the Superdome during the game. (Damn! My wife and I would be dead.) Neither are expected unless you are extremely pessimistic.

Are you hoping we lose just so you can say, "I told you so?" Can you not ever hope for the best?

I can handle bad news if it happens, but I see nothing to gain by obsessing over the possibility.

An asteroid would be different. That wouldn’t happen because of us $ucking badly… at least I hope not. Sincerely.

Anyway, as I’ve written in another thread, even after an asteroid strike, Dennis Allen would still be Head Coach, so you’d be cool.

I really don't care who's coach. That's above my pay scale as a fan. I'm simply going to support my team no matter what. If Allen was fired tomorrow I'd throw my support to the team just as heartily. You see, I know I have no control over who happens to be coach. No more so than you or any other fan. Rather than stressing over it and pissing off a whole forum by constantly *****ing I take it in stride. :D

Who Dat and on to the Panties!!

Also, you have no control over the team winning, by sitting in the refurbished dome for every game, while the team consistently underperforms… but you do it because of the way it makes you FEEL as a fan. Likewise, as a fan, I express the way it makes me FEEL, to have an absolute DUD, posing as a Head Coach, with Raider Curbside Trash, as my starting QB, for yet another season.

So from mopping up the restrooms for Divine Lady Gayle, or giving daddy Loomis a hot oil massage, or whatever floats your rosey boat, to me being pissed off about our team remaining in a state of perpetual mismanagement and irrelevance, we get to EXPRESS OURSELVES here in a Fan Forum. That’s just the way it works Polly. You can deal with it.

Express away, Sinner! The only people you're pissing off are other members here that are forced to wade through your crap or abandon the forum entirely. Gayle, Mickey, and Dennis don't care a bit what you say or do nor should they.

Thank you for your support. Sincerely. Since Drew’s decline and Sean’s exit, it has become painfully apparent that Gayle, Mickey, and Dennis don’t care a bit about much more than collecting your money. I’ll be here for you, if ever you need to vent as this season unfolds and unravels. Saint Fan for Life! Sincerely. WHODAT!

And I'll be here for you as we cruise to the playoffs. And my money is my business and I can spend it however I choose. Hell, I'd even buy you a beer.

If you and I live long enough to survive Gayle, and the Saints can pull themselves out of the swamp without leaving New Orleans, drinks are on me Brother. WHODAT!

Therein lies our difference. I don't see them as being in a swamp and I don't think we can find a better owner. All a matter of perspective, my friend.

I told you what it would take for drinks to be on me. That’s all.
You are quoted as saying, “Winning a championship is not the goal”, so your perspective has been made painfully clear already. I’m just sharing mine here as well.

Quotes can be misinterpreted and taken, and repeated, out of context.

Winning a championship is absolutely a goal for many involved with an NFL franchise. That a given. Only one franchise per year will achieve that goal, therefore every franchise has to have other goals that are far more achievable. Players and coaches alike commonly state their primary goal as winning the division and making the playoffs. Then their goal becomes advancing to the conference championship. Then winning that championship and making it to the big game. Without achieving each of those individual goals the ultimate goal of winning it all is impossible.

It all starts with beating the Panthers. At home. Game one.
