Re: DONE
My fandom fell off a cliff when I decided that I would no longer pay the ransom for Sunday Ticket which became more expensive than a coke habit. I live in Houston and do not know how to be a fan of any other franchise and it is difficult to follow a team that you can not 'follow closely'.
My visits here became less frequent when a good bit of the content was no longer viewable. Forums are fading away and being replaced by facebook groups etc... Forum activity is huge in attracting new members as well as funding the page (this place is not free by any means). While it is very much a perception thing, it is still a thing. One massive generalized thread looks no where near as active as a dozen recently created topic specific threads by different people. When that one generalized thread is created by a caustic member that many have on ignore present members look elsewhere so that they do not have to be subjected to that individual. vBulletin's (the platform this is on) does not do blocking (similar to Peat) and has an insufficient ignore function. To be clear, caustic people are not people that disagree with you. They are the people that turn a critique of the team into a personal, drama filled, ordeal. These boards have a long commendable history of being hands off. As much as that is a favorable characteristic, it does take its toll on members that just want to talk and read about the team. Halo, Smash, whom ever else may be doing the day to day have done a very good job of providing this space for us, but that's where their abilities stop. We, the members, are the personality and culture of this place and we consistently fail to maintain any semblance of decorum or maturity. ![]() |
