True. We haven’t seen the last of Carr… Yet.

Underhill eluded to it earlier but Rattler is used to playing with bad o lines.

What makes him exciting is his ability to move away from pressure to buy time.

Something Carr rarely did this season to help out his oline.

Something that Carr never had the ability to do. Not surprising.

Well, it's looking like we will see three letters in the near future that we have never seen in NOLA:

R.P.O.

Let's see what ya got Klint!

Anyone catch the Niners/Hawk game?

Notice Purdy's footwork (extending plays) & how he's not afraid to make that contested pass.

My hope is that Rattler can eventually develop like that.

As opposed to a true RPO, leilung, I believe we'll see more of what Major pointed out about Purdy. Still playing the outside zone run, but using Rattler's legs to elude the pressure and buy time on the pass plays. If we can get that outside zone going again like we did the first two games we can make that play action work again. We know Rattler likes throw downfield.

However, I wouldn't expect Kubiak to call many designed runs or even RPO's for Rattler since his backup wouldn't be able to run that game plan. At least there's nothing I've seen from Haener that says he can.

That's a new one. Limit a QB because his backup can't do what he does.

Haener will be in by the 4th quarter.

In this case, yes. To a degree. The game day backup needs to be able to execute the game plan designed for the starter. That's why most every team has a backup with similar basic skillsets. That's the reason why Haener was Carr's game day backup. If Rattler becomes a fulltime starter some day I would expect we had a similar type of QB backing him up and the game planning could include a full spectrum of RPO type stuff. It makes perfect sense. But the playbook that Kubiak designed this year was based upon Carr's strengths and that will still be the main characteristic. Sure, they could add a twist here and there, but they aren't going to completely revamp everything at this point for Rattler. They simply do not have the time to do that based upon the CBA alone.

Why would you think that? The only way I see that happening is if Rattler gets injured.

There is one thing that gives me hope about rattler. Dennis Allen's job is on the line. He's gonna start the guy who gives him the best chance to win. It looks like Rattler has passed Haener on depth chart. Maybe there's something they see that some of us don't yet.

I still think we get waxed but I've been wrong before and probably will be again.

So again… We fans are in the position of wanting to win, while knowing that we if we win just enough to keep Dennis Allen around, we will continue to win just enough to keep Dennis Allen around, without becoming a championship team.

Or perhaps we win, make the playoffs and go deep as we get healthier.

Sorry, I'm a recovering optimist.

Nothing wrong with that, Danno.

About to head down to Nola. Can't wait to see what Rattler can do. He's definitely better suited to handle the problems caused by the decimated offensive line.

Bad college O-Lines....NFL is next level

I agree....sorry we are to this point. I know the coaching staff knows they don't have a line. Which backup could we afford to lose through injury first?

That said, how many times in the NFL have we seen an injury elevate someone else for the future?

I would say Allen is giving Kubiak the nod to this decision. I don't think Allen would go this way.

We have an uncanny knack for putting good personnel in harms way and humiliation.

How about maybe, just maybe, that part of the Kubiak playbook was edited because of the skill set of the QB1? All I'm suggesting is that you are likely to see some Taysom Hill like plays with QB2 Rattler in because... well... he can actually RUN! Not a total revamp of the offensive scheme.
Just food for thought. ;)

#metoo.
Injuries happen to every team so I'm hopeful that the Saints can cowboy up and be the team that started this season 2-0 looking All-world.
