Haener or Rattler

I was hoping this thread would pop up last night. Wanted to get fans take on who you think should go this week. I say this week because I realize this may be a week to week thing for a few weeks.
I am on the Rattler train. No offense to Haener but most believe that Rattler has the better tools. Wondering if this is a DA decision or if he will give Kubiak the final say.
Either way we know Carr is not the future so let’s find out if the future is on the roster. Whether Haener or Rattler is no difference to me I just hope that one of them is the answer.

Re: Haener or Rattler

This is a question that should have been answered during preseason, around the same time Carr should have been wrapped up in cellophane and mailed back to the Raiders’ bench.

Re: Haener or Rattler

I heard last night on WWL that during TC Haener had a better grasp of Kubiak's offense.

Haener it is. Let Rattler try to take it away from him in practice.

It may not matter. With our O-line Haener probably isn't going to last a full game. I suspect we'll see both soon.

Re: Haener or Rattler

I posted about Kubiak meeting with Haener prior to the draft when Kubiak was in San Fran.

Felt there was familiarity and confidence in Jake. I'm eager to see what both bring actually

Re: Haener or Rattler

How about let DA walk and give the reigns to Kubiak for the rest of the year.
Obviously a joke I know there is no way this happens, but conversations need to start happening with another loss

I think it will be Haener that get the call … not that I would be surprised if it went the other way. But no question in my mind Klint will make the call.

probably will not matter much... Buc, Broncos, then Chargers.... either qb will be getting a rude awakening to the NFL... :beatnik:

Haener should get first shot. I think Rattler is absolutely going to be a better pro. But Haener deserves a shot.

Should have developed the entire offense around Rattler in the preseason.

Re: Haener or Rattler

People should temper their enthusiasm. Rattler may have the talent but he still is a rookie behind a terrible offensive line.

Re: Haener or Rattler

I honestly thought Carr played good considering the situation. Idk if Brees in his prime wouldn't consider this o-line a challenge. I'm actually shocked Allen went with the rookie. I have always criticized his lack of aggression on offense but he has proved me wrong this year. I still think we could do better as far as a coach and I hope that o-line doesn't destroy this kids confidence. I still think that's what happened to Tim Couch but at least we have weapons.

If you are looking for rainbows, do not read.

It seems like we have a broke d1ck QB, a broke d1ck back up QB, and we are starting a third string QB that is about to get his d1ck broke because the Center is broke d1ck (literally groin injury)...

Carr(oblique) and Hill (rib) both have injuries in the same region which begs the question, were they wearing adequate Rib Guards.

Re: Haener or Rattler

A few weeks back it was brought up on who would take over in the case we lost Carr. We knew at the time Haener was being declared as the game day backup. I said I thought if Carr missed a start it would be Rattler, however, that started. It makes sense especially with the line issues. Haener is, like Carr, a pocket QB primarily and would operate the same game plan so it made sense that he was an "in game" replacement. Rattler has a different skill set, however, and would have a different game plan in place. I expect we'll see a noticeably different look Sunday with Rattler behind center.

From my perspective Carr definitely isn't the problem. He's played really well imo. He's kind of been turned into a matador without a red cape, but I think he's making the best of the situation.

Re: Haener or Rattler

At this point of the season the majority of people around here had the Saints at 2-3 or 1-4 based up the scheduled teams. Given the rash of injuries to the offensive line primarily it's not surprising where we are right now. From this point on we have the easiest stretch with our remaining schedule. I am by no means counting us out of a playoff run as we get players back. I'm also expecting a win this Sunday to start that run. Rattler gives us the best bet to avoid the pressure caused by o-line injuries. Our receivers are getting open. They just need the time to be targeted. Rattler can buy that time with his legs. He's also more prone to make mistakes than Carr, however.

Rattler it is... I wonder, though... Is his jersey number a jinx in the making ? It's Dave Wilson's old jersey number for those who have forgotten.

Is He? Yes, I'm sure he is on paper, as an untested rookie. That goes without saying. But the mistakes a green rookie makes are often more understandeable. But most of the mistakes a highly paid veteran makes, are unforgivable. I'm excited to see what he can do.

Excited can’t even describe me right now. I’m overjoyed and optimistic. I’m just not happy with what I’ve seen from Carr. Jameis looked better in his 2021 stint than Carr has over these past two years…and that’s with them putting the reigns on him. At this point we would have been better off keeping him for the cheap.

Why is it that when the Saints have to play a rookie backup quarterback, we make him look like the second coming of Joe Montana, but when the Saints have to play OUR backup rookie QB, the opposing team makes him look like exactly that, a rookie backup quarterback!

I believe that's an overblown sense of misremembrance by battered Saints fans. I read something within the last year that showed we actually have a very good record against rookie QB's over the last several years. It was an article showing that perception wasn't true, at least not recently.

It's not a season long thing and he could pull us through in the short term. Have faith, my friend.
