Saints vs Panthers

Just read where CBS is trying to give the rights and $5,000,000 to anyone who will take the saints vs panthers game this weekend. Any takers

I'll probably be spending that time taking down the Halloween decorations.

You have to look beyond the results for the Panther. They made some quality plays if not for a few mistakes their record would be much different. They are only 4 games out of the division lead and very much in the playoff race. At this point if they could just pull the trigger on a trade for someone like Cooper Kupp or Tredavius White, when you get a chance to get a player of that caliber you have to do it.

I'm ready for the Saints to trade off some players for draft capital at this point. The offseason's are always long right after the Superbowl and are even longer when your team gave up before the midway point of a season.

I'd rather keep them. Our draft skills have left a lot to be desired.
When we start hitting on picks, then we can talk trades.

Isn't this wanting them to give up before the midway point of the season?

Personally I want them to do everything within their ability to win each individual game this year.

I don't believe they have. You and other fans may have, but I'll guarantee you they haven't.

I don’t necessarily believe the team has given up but I do believe that this is a middle of the road team that is poorly coached. Give this team to SP and we are probably 5-3 or 6-2 right now. Coaching in this league is priority one.

I honestly don't believe that Payton or Vince Lombardi himself could have won the last three games with Rattler and Haener behind that decimated offensive line with all the other missing pieces.

But they wouldn’t have lost to Philly and ATL

Here’s how this is gonna play out. We will win this weekend against Carolina and ATL will lose to Dallas and TB will lose to KC. Next thing you know trade deadline passes with us not getting any compensation for anyone because Mickey will use the I told you so going into Atlanta game and sell to fans that with a win we are one game out. It’s like a bad movie, you know the plot before it starts.

I’ve been seeing this movie playing out in slow (painful) motion for two years prior to this, while rosie pompoms was accusing me of driving y’all off this forum. I NEVER wanted to be proven wrong as much as this year, and I NEVER derived joy from saying “I told you so”. But I’ll say this, at this rate, we AINT seeing the playoffs for years to come.

No reason why the ending can't be different.

Re: Saints vs Panthers

I have zero faith that this team can pull out a win against the Panthers. I realize we’ve beat them and did so very decidedly.

However, this team is a shell of itself from the beginning of the season. I don’t believe their coach believes in them and I don’t believe they believe in their coach.

A win here, even in similar fashion, would do little to change my mind that this team is effectively done for the season.

They have no leadership outside of the few older guys that want to go out with a bang (Jordan, Honey Badger, etc).

Carr and DA were both getting their ass kicked before Carr got injured and were nothing like they were the first 2 games of the year.

Injuries or not, good coached teams find a way to win. They lack depth. They lack discipline. They lack direction. They lack leadership.

I always hope for a win. But I really don’t know what good it would do at this point.

Whatever happens, bet the rent check on the OVER on bush-league, mind-numbingly stupid plays on the field in this game.

Say it again. Nice and loud for Rosie Pompoms in the back, and for Gayle to hear.

If I'm Carolina's OC, I'm telling Bryce Young to count to 2 Mississippi on each play and then run. Put on the old Michael Vick and Randall Cunningham tapes to drill scrambling into his head. Lord knows we haven't been stopping it.

He'd be in the blue tent inside the first quarter trying that. It's been hard to stop because the QB's doing it are somewhat of a passing threat. He hasn't shown that he can be a threat doing anything really.

Good point. But neither has our DEFENSE. Or our offense for that matter.

Hopefully getting back some of those key players can change that. I'm sorry, but I don't see either Rattler or Haener ever putting up the kind of numbers Carr has in his career. I know some people are down on Carr, but he is still easily one of the 20-25 best professional QB's in the world today.

I think Carr is a good enough QB that he could potentially win with a great defense and good oline. I dont think we have either one of those. I trust the data from PFF to some degree and what I see is that Carr is better than anyone on our defense, by far. Our defense is made up of big names who have all lost their edge and at this point the only above average starter on the entire D is granderson. Lattimore, Davis, Jordan, Mathieu, Young, Bresee, etc are names but at this point they vary from completely average starters to major liabilities. We have our Trent Dilfer or Phil Simms or Brock Osweiler but the championship D is nostalgia not a reality, and spending $40-50 million on an aging B+ QB without the team around him is questionable. We would be better off to gamble on the next Darnold, Mayfield, Wilson, or a 25-26 draft rookie who might be better or worse than Carr but would definitely free up resources to get younger and deeper over time.

The other thing with Carr is even if he’s your best shot to make the playoffs, you are paying $40-50 million a year to get there with a QB who has never won a playoff game, only played in one, and basically will be more of a rookie in the playoffs than Rattler is in the regulr season. So sure, he’s your best option on the current roster if money is no object, but he is getting older, the team to win doesnt exist around him, and by the time you build it, you got the 40yo virgin in the big game.
