Happy birthday Saints!

I remember the day you came into our lives. I cheered for you then and I continue to cheer for you, though season has been very rough.

I have seen worse. But not in recent years. I do want you to win out, make the playoffs go to the Super Bowl and win it, and I will cheer for you every game regardless of the outcome.

Thank you for being born.

What are your earliest memories of the Saints coming into your life? When did you become a fan? How long have you been following? That question is not a competition

Re: Happy birthday Saints!

I was nine and my dad just got transferred to Barksdale AFB in Bossier the Spring of 1967. I was a Packers fan like most of the kids in South Dakota at the time. Soon after we arrived I found out my new home state was getting it's own NFL team. How could I not become a fan? Winning was never necessary for me to remain a fan. Having a team of my very own was all that really mattered. Yes, winning is great, but it is by no means the do all, be all.

“Yes, winning is great, but it is by no means the do all, be all.”

They don’t make a medication strong enough to make ^^^ that make sense.

I jumped on when Aaron Brooks stepped in for Jeff Blake and took down “The Greatest Show On Turf”. As ridiculous as that eventually turned out, I would take Haslett’s “Deer in the headlights” blank stare, and Brooks connecting with that funky Joe Horn end zone dance this weekend in Carolina, over what we are about to witness, any day. Still a Fan, always a Fan… but “YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!”

Okay, my curiosity got the best of me and I HAD to see what you had to say on this topic. True to form! You became a Saints fan the day they finally won their first playoff game. Talk about fair-weather. LOL!

Of course you wouldn't understand being loyal fan of a team through all of their years of struggles. To a true fan winning isn't everything, nor should it be. Being able to have a team that you can call your very own is what is truly important.

Yes, you play to win the game, but that isn't always going to be the outcome. I am just grateful that I have a team to watch every week. Ask St. Louis or Oakland fans about that.

i have been through much pain since Brooks and Haslett took us into the Playoffs, but nothing quite like what is happening NOW.

The idea of “How much pain can a Fan endure, and how badly our team $ucks, when compared to other $ucky teams, is NOT what the game is about, unless your chosen sport is Masochism.

Look, I’m still here, and the weather is as far from “fair” as it’s ever been, and not looking to improve anytime soon. See you on Sunday.

*And the game you play with the pretend “IGNORE” and then peek a boo, [temp unblock] and then “re-block” on this Forum is as pathetic as your outlook on enjoying dog$hit every Sunday, and some Prime Time Thursday, and Monday Nights.

Re: Happy birthday Saints!

That was the day after my 11th birthday
we had recently moved into our home on Kent st near Kawanee that my parents had built
would watch Saints "secret" practices through the fence 3 blocks away at Sam Barthe school

Re: Happy birthday Saints!

@ sinner. Holy Cow do I remember the 2000 season! It may have been the most exciting season ever! And I remember vividly being upset in 2001 in preseason when brooks got the start and not Blake! I thought he deserved it! 2001 was possibly the most disappointing season aside from obviously the 1987 series.

I have to say the past few years I’ve been more proud of the Saints because we stayed in the conversation for longer than perhaps we even deserved.

This year is like so many in the distant past, I go to my local and watch the game on TV and slam my beer mug down in solidarity with others that are feeling the same disappointment.

True fans wear black and gold. Super Bowl ring or not. 2 win season or not - which is where we could very well be headed.

Has any team only won its first two games?

Probably has been, but coming into the weakest half of our schedule and getting back some key players (Erik McCoy!!!) will bring us at the very least a few more wins.
