Sources: Fired coach Allen mishandled Miller’s injury

Wow. This is why Loomis need to go too.

Makes you wonder how many others placed on IR maybe shouldn't have been over the years.

Remember my reply about Kamara asking Payton to 'get him out of New Orleans', and players feeling like they are not being taken care of.

Allen was being an ass toward Miller. Glad Allen was fired. Miller was looking good too the few runs he made.

Shades of Jimmy Graham (4 week stretch of healthy inactive), Jameis Winston & more recently A.T. Perry (hand).

Sounds like once you were in Dennis Allen's dog house, you stayed there.

Players weren't warming up before practices?

Changes In New Orleans: New Saints Interim Head Coach Details What's Different

Quote:

An 'activation' period has been changed to the beginning of practice, which essentially is a warmup period for the players and a chance for them to get some sweat in before working. They'll work alongside the sports science and strength staff. Rizzi headed this up and this will hopefully cut down on soft tissue injuries.

Timestamp starting around 10:27 Darren explains how he will conduct things vs how Allen handled his.

Dennis Allen is not a good coach, and I believe our medical staff has mishandled the actual treatment of injuries in the past, but I am skeptical that somewhat punitively placing a constantly injured player on IR is Allen's worst offense. The way things have gone, had Miller played this week, he might have had 5 carries, then got injured again, and meanwhile he is using up a roster space. I think that even a good coach might sometimes hold out a player with constant injuries a little longer to send a message that they need to do whatever it takes to be more available, and that with their marginal value on the field they should not be taking up a constant roster space in order to be available a quarter or two every 2-3 weeks.

I suppose that is one opinion.

"Optional" warmup is the craziest s*** I've ever heard.

Dennis Allen & the handling of Miller is wild.

I'm absolutely perplexed that our players haven't been warming up. I'm sure we have the worst injury record in the league, how is this a ****ing surprise?

Has anyone confirmed this information about optional or lack of warm ups before practice? It seems too wild to be true that our practices would differ so much from the rest of the league and no players, even departed players, would say anything for years. I feel like it could also just be some kind of change in terminology or scheduling. It would be nice to hear this confirmed by a journeyman player who has been on the Saints and other teams.

Rizzi said it in his latest press conference, that he asked Dennis for a while to pursue an "activation period" and it was never implemented until Rizzi himself took over.
