If he thinks this team is his opportunity to win in his home town, Kool Aid is not just his teammate, its his beverage of choice.

He is still a useful player on a fairly reasonable contract but we can't be in the business of paying him more than he is worth in the future when we need to rebuild. If he wants to stay on reasonable contracts to be the veteran mentor presence for as long as he can contribute, I am fine with that. For most players it would make more sense to go chase a ring elsewhere, but he already has one.

I believe he is more altruistic than some might think. At this point of his career I honestly believe he is more interested in being an asset to his community than chasing the dollar or individual glory elsewhere.
