Will Johnson - CB
Michigan

Strengths

- Big, smooth and instinctive.
- Presses with patient feet and strong re-routes.
- Connects quickly from press and can run with the route.
- Good body control and change of direction in space.
- Pre-snap play recognition makes it seem like he was in the offensive huddle.

Pro comparison- Jaycee Horn

Will has 1st rd grades throughout.

Just heard on NFL Radio's Moving the Chains that he still hasn't run a 40 and that his short shuttle times were slower than those of elite CB's. They did say his tape was impressive but the size (6'3" +) is there and that he fits more of the Pete Carroll mold from the Legion of Boom days.

If we move to a more zone heavy scheme he's perfect for it. If we're still going to be man heavy then there are better fits. He'd be perfect somewhere like Philly, so if we adopt that style of defense he's going to be an All-Pro one day.

What if we play a 9-1-1 defense? Blitz every down and leave one in the backfield like Alontae.

SCOUTING REPORT: STRENGTHS
Explosive first step off the snap allows him to consistently beat offensive linemen into their set and dictate initial engagement - shows up repeatedly against both run and pass
Natural leverage winner who plays with outstanding pad level and core strength, allowing him to control the point of attack and reset the line of scrimmage against single blocks

SCOUTING REPORT: WEAKNESSES
Can get caught playing too high at times, especially when fatigued late in games, allowing offensive linemen to get underneath his pads and control the point of attack

SCOUTING REPORT: SUMMARY

The tape shows a defender ready to make an immediate impact as a disruptive three-technique in an attacking front. Nolen's combination of first-step explosiveness, natural leverage, and refined technical skills will allow him to be a day-one starter in the NFL. His versatility to play multiple techniques along the defensive front adds significant value in today's multiple-front defenses.

No major injuries

As Smashmouth stated early, we need more beef in those trenches.

Late 1st, early 2nd round grades

Excellent!

All ^^ draft ahead of the Saints & I’m not so sure they will all pass on Shadeur.

Ward is probably the first pick (Titans) taken.

Stranger things have happened on draft night though.

Our draft Day picks always make me nervous as hell!

HEIGHT: 6-4 WEIGHT: 222
HANDS: 10 1/4 ARM: 32 1/2
FORTY: 4.48
10YD: 1.52

Raw physical talent jumps off the tape with Williams, particularly in the vertical passing game where his combination of size and acceleration creates constant stress on defenses. The way he tracks deep balls shows natural instincts, while his development as a ball carrier displays impressive vision and feel. Yet his inconsistent hands and unrefined route breaks in the intermediate areas highlight the technical growth still needed in his game.

The ideal offensive system will build around Williams' strengths early while developing his complete game. A scheme that emphasizes play-action shots downfield and incorporates receivers into the run game would maximize his current abilities. His experience operating from different alignments and contributing in multiple phases opens creative possibilities, but he'll need clearly defined roles that expand as his route tree develops.

First-round talent with day-three polish makes Williams one of this draft's most fascinating evaluations. The gap between his elite athletic traits and technical refinement suggests a focused development plan will be crucial. While he might not be ready for a full route tree immediately, his ability to stress defenses vertically and create with the ball in his hands will demand defensive attention from day one. The foundation is there for a dynamic offensive weapon - he just needs time and coaching to reach that ceiling.

Looks to be available late day 2. Just gotta coach him up

We tried coaching them up in the past. That did not work out well! Hopefully, this new coaching staff actually knows how to coach.
