On the other hands...for all of those that miss the Drew Brees era...Sanders is going to be the closest thing to that. Not to mention the NFL is going to want him to succeed. It's good for the league and the bottom line.

If Sanders is off the board before 9 then I'm fine letting Rattler play out the season.

If it means the refs and RG cut us a break all the way to the SB for another Tiffany, then Hell Ya, let's all board the Shedeur Sanders train. :bng:

I believe Rattler has more to offer than people think. He only had a few games with second and third string oline and receiver and flashed some nice moments. He needs to be given a fair shot and put in some practices and a few games with the ones to really see what we have.

Jalon Walker - LB
Georgia

Strengths
- Hybrid talent who takes snaps as an off-ball linebacker and on the edge.
- Drifts downhill to meet blocks and constrict the run lane.
- Good length to stack blocks or punch and pass on the move.
- Twitched up with an elite closing burst to the football.
- Rush attack is highly athletic and very natural.
- Varies step cadence and entry angles, creating passivity from tackles.

Weaknesses
- Below-average size as a full-time edge defender.
- Improved off the ball but still developing his instincts.

Pro comparison - Nolan Smith

1st round projections throughout

I'm also high on the Rattler train. After all, he didn't play with the varsity squad last season. Still looked like a higher upside than Carr.

If the Saints take Sanders at 9, I'm ok. If they take someone later, cool. But like Rez said earlier, I don't think it should be Shough. I'm ok with Dart, Milroe, Howard, Riley in later rounds. Haven't really watched any of the guy from Syracuse

Azareye’h Thomas - CB
Florida State

Strengths
- Imposing size and length as a press corner.
- Stalls receiver’s release with a strong punch.
- Crowds and connects to the early stages of the route.
- Takes cues from receivers to turn, locate and play the throw.
- Seeks to occupy as much of the catch space as possible.
- Long arms are formidable weapons of catch disruption.

Round 2 projection

I'm still anxious to get a top OL, preferably a LT so that we can get our stud, Fuaga back to his natural position on the RT! I really do believe that the quest for the next QB can wait, but without a line to give him thime, he's not going to be doing much except running for his life on most plays...

That being said: Sanders has had some of the most horrible lines in College Football since he's been playing. He could probably come in and do well right away with what we have.

Speaking of the draft, today I heard a pretty amazing bit of draft history. This year's first round, as it sits right now, is the first time since 1967 that every team in the league holds its own first round pick.

Easily forgotten is the speed difference in the NFL vs college. That's means he'll be a turnstile interception machine, in all likelihood.

Didn’t the scouts say that about Phills Simms & Favre coming out of college?

Interesting, I saw that somewhere too. Its a copycat league and I think the recent bust trades to move up for Trey Lance and Bryce Young among others discouraged other teams from trading up so much lately, making this possible. Ultimately I think most mega-deals have been busts (sometimes moving up a few spots at lesser compensation has worked out better) but these two trades going so bad so quickly at such a large scale of compensation really hit the nail in the coffin. At the same time trades of 1st round picks for elite veteran QBs have not gone so well lately either, with Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers being complete busts, and the Matthew Stafford being a bit murky since LA got the ring but then Goff became the better QB year 2 on. Trading 1st round picks may remain a cautionary tale until some team makes it work, more likely trading for a veteran given the challenges of a rookie handling the pressure of those expectations.
