He was never going to succeed in that season.
Coach suspended. Vilma and Assistant coaches suspended. Aaron Kromer / Joe Vitt as Interim Head Coach. Only a young Cam Jordan as a pass rusher. Corey White and Patrick Robinson at Cornerback. |

Vilma's bogus suspension was overturned, but he did miss the first five games of that season while on the PUP list. He played the last eleven. But, his absence had to have been a factor in the failure.
