And for all we know the $46m number includes some incredibly unlikely bonuses like for winning rings and getting 1500 yards receiving and this is really a 2 year $30 million deal if Adams doesnt trigger big escalator clauses.
Actually this is the second time in 3 years the Rams have given a free agent WR a $46 million contract with over $25 million guaranteed. The last was Allen Robinson, and that did not work out so well. So I maintain my opinion that its too much money, even if a stupid desperate team whose window has probably closed did it. Glad we aren't that team on Adams at least.
I guess the argument is a deal like this could make sense for a team like the Rams that has a Superbowl caliber QB whose window to win again is rapidly closing and wants to go all-in for one more year. Like the Saints around 2020. It would make no sense for the 2025 Saints that are the exact opposite and need to rebuild. It's probably still a mistake for the Rams. Adams is old and rapidly declining.

Agree we are not the team for Adams. He's a luxury and Saints need to rebuild the roster.
While his contract terms are similar to Robinson, the mistake you make is in equating the two beyond that.
Over the last six years Adams recorded 609 receptions for 7,647 yards and 64 TDs, while Robinson had 308 receptions for 3,456 yards and 17 TDs.
If anyone didn't deserve the money, it was Robinson but I'll bet the Rams didn't count on him having foot surgery in year 1.
