What about the DE from BC? He looks like a beast on film. Looks like he may fall to us at 40 and may even fall further back if we decide to trade back.

I did a quick four rounder trading down with Indy for their first and next years second. I’d be pretty happy with this start to the draft

I am a huge proponent of trading back from #9. I was able to pick up #s 27, 59 and 91 here plus a 2nd in 2026 from Baltimore.

I was able to address just about every position of need and 6 players in the top 100 who could make immediate impacts.

The question is would Baltimore ever be willing to consider something like that. Given this year's choices and what they need I tend to doubt it. That's the only drawback to some of these draft scenario generators. It would be cool if AI could be built in to consider needs of potential trade partners. That would make it far more realistic. I can see someone doing that soon.

It's a mock draft guido. don't overthink it. you can run your own with any varying number of hypothetical scenarios. Point is this - a trade back from 9 to gain 2-3 more picks in the Top 100 prospects could be a worthwhile move in this particular draft.

Oh, I can definitely see picking up those picks as worthwhile for us. I was just thinking out loud in general. What if Baltimore, or any other team, valued those lower picks more than our picks, as well. These draft apps basically work off of the trade table giving equivalent total trade values, which is fine. But I was simply suggesting it would be far more realistic if an app was developed using AI which would consider probabilities of potential trade partners in accepting a trade offer based upon their needs. You know, something you could as a user switch on or off. Would that be pretty cool? That may be something that neuguy, as a software developer, could look into. That could be right up his alley.

It has to depend on team needs, the target prospect, a particular need, etc.. There's no formula outside of Jimmy Johnson's value chart that I'm aware of other than precedent set from previous years.

Also a solid draft. Arroyo is my only question mark for durability concerns. LaJohntay Wester is a steal at 254!

I am following along and learning this new crop of rookies. I feel like we need to address the O line early on day two. We need a top clutch WR in the early rounds too. We've got to address CB too. Also, we need numbers on the D line too but not as much since we signed a new NT.

As of now, I’d say OL,CB,WR are tops as far as immediate impact players. FA can change that of course.

This is my mock draft I did with a trade down scenario from 9 to 16 and 47 pick.

16-Jahdae Barron
CB Texas

40-Donovan Jackson
OG Ohio State

47-Isaiah Bond
WR Texas

71-Mason Taylor
TE LSU

93-TreVeyon Henders..
RB Ohio State

112-Antwaun Powell-R...
EDGE Virginia Tech

131-Demetrius Knight ...
LB South Carolina

184-Gerad Christian-Li...
OT Oregon State

I believe it’s possible Demetrius Knight could pass up Werner on the depth chart and eventually can take over Demario’s spot when he hangs it up

Publications infer that Jeanty's down the field catch abilities aren't the same as Kamara's, which to me spells less than 1st round cost. Maybe they are wrong and he's wroth such a high draft pick.

Here's my latest to include the extra 7th we got.

9.
Kelvin Banks Jr.

40.

71.

Ricky White
WR UNLV
184.
Teddye Buchanan
LB California
248.
Nazir Stackhouse
DT Georgia
254.
Craig Woodson
S California

I'm liking this latest iteration the most, with a heavy emphasis on quality beef on both sides. Skattebo while no Jeanty will suffice. The lower end of these selections all have a chance to stick, IMHO.

I'm keeping this draft for now. Didn't do the full 7 round bc I have no idea who we'll draft late and what picks we'll use to trade up.

I do love the first 4 picks though.

9.
Kelvin Banks Jr.

40.

Maybe I'm wrong to concentrate so much on beef on both sides. But we suffered through some serious declines with injuries on both sides of the line.

I like the WR Efton Chism pick up late.

Not a bad draft, however I did some research on Banks and he not only projects to be a good OT, he even projects higher as a guard. Love that versatility. So if we took him at 9, which I think is a good spot, I don’t see the need to double dip and grab Jackson at 40. Besides I like Pennings progress and think we’re good at tackle for now. I like Jackson a lot though, so I would draft him at 40 if he’s there and use that 9 spot for a stud CB or WR like McMillan. Even wouldn’t be mad if we used our first on Jaylon Walker. He’s a versatile piece that I think is gonna be a stud

Re: NFL Mock Draft 2025

I have a simple wish list:

Don't trade up in the 1st round, at least not enough to cost a future 1st round pick (unless it is only one future 1st rounder and its for a generational QB, which I don't see this year).

Don't draft a TE in the 1st round, the transition from college to pros at TE is too unpredictable, too few great TEs come from the 1st round, too many come from the middle rounds, its NEVER smart to use a 1st round pick on a TE.

Don't draft a RB in the 1st round, their careers are short and unpredictable, and with our oline and passing games issues even a great RB would struggle. Plus so many great RBs come from round 2-4. And we already have so much invested in the position with Kamara's foolish contract. This isn't a league where you have a RB $12 million to split carries and invest a high 1st round pick in another to split carries.

Obviously there are other niche stupid things we could do like trade our 1st round pick for CMC or draft a punter in the 1st, but basically I am not a scout and if they make a good faith effort to pick a QB, WR, OT, DL, LB, or CB who was expected to be drafted in the 1st round and attended a university that isn't known for its quaint liberal arts program I am ok with it.

UPDATE: Also please don't draft a 1st round pick with a troubling injury history in college.

All eyes on Jeff Ireland & his scouting team.

You gotta nail this draft. No whiffs, no projects, no wasted picks (Trautman, Turner, Davenport, Ian Book).

Saints need young talent.

This is one of the most reasonable posts I believe I have ever seen from you. Are you actually Bako? Yes, there are still touches of Bakoism there, but much more sublime.

Cam Ward put out a statement saying it would be a dream come true to play for the Saints.

Send #9, Carr, Olave, and a future 2nd.

How would that affect the Saints Cap?

Cutting or trading Carr after his restructure would cause $59 million of cap charges for past restructures and bonuses to hit the salary cap. Prior to June 1, this would cause the Saints to exceed the salary cap and foreit games and/or draft picks, and there would probably not be enough other contracts for terminate or restructure to get under. The Saints would save $4.5 million on Carr and Olaves salaries and Olaves roster bonus but still the $54.5 million cap hit would be too much. There is no post-june-1 tag for trades. Carr could only be cut or traded before restructuring or after June 1.

If the trade was executed after June 1 the $59 million would hit the 2026 cap but $19 million of it is already on the 2026 cap and Carr’s $50 million base salary would exit the 2026 cap so the net would be $10 million extra cap space in 2026. For 2025 the Saint would gain $4.5 million and likely use that toward Wards salary.

But the Titans would not do this trade anyway.

Here's another.

9.
Kelvin Banks Jr.
OT Texas
40.
Donovan Jackson
OG Ohio State
71.
Darius Alexander
DT Toledo
93.
Josaiah Stewart
EDGE Michigan
112.
Gunnar Helm
TE Texas
131.
Smael Mondon Jr.
LB Georgia
184.
Raheim Sanders
RB South Carolina
248.
Jason Marshall Jr.
CB Florida
254.
Efton Chism
WR Eastern Washington

Maybe I'm wrong to concentrate so much on beef on both sides. But we suffered through some serious declines with injuries on both sides of the line.

I like the WR Efton Chism pick up late.

Fooled me. I honestly thought that you were bringing some olde English to the site as you are wont to do.
I don't know who's who this year but I know that the Saints have a lot of needs on both sides of the ball. So there's nothing new under the sun. Draft BPA, draft from the lines out and maybe wait on a QB in this years draft unless Dartt makes it to the Saints 2nd round pick.

I think the Saints trade Derek Carr, our first this year and next to get the number one pick and draft Cam Ward or stand firm and draft Milroe or Dart! You heard it here first sports fans!

God I hope not. Not against the trading of Carr. But this year and next years 1st round picks for Ward? Yikes.

I don't think Mason Taylor lasts that long. But yeah, absolutely take him if he does.
