The Falcons just made a dumb trade giving up their 2026 1st round pick. Penix tore his ACL twice in college, Cousins could be washed or could be gone, and now the Falcons traded their 2026 first round pick. Its easy to see a scenario where the Falcons would pick #1 overall in 2026 with a journeyman backup starting at QB and now that would mean the Rams picking #1 overall. It could be us too, but the Falcons have big risk.

I was about to ask how the falcons got 2 picks in the 1st round.
BUT they got 2 solid defensive players. Rest of the teams on the board are desperate for defensive line or Lb's.

I’m on the other side of it. They will not be looking for a QB and with the defensive improvements they might be in the mid 20s next year.

The Failcants roster is looking much better than ours next season…at least on paper.

I just think Penix is an extreme risk. This is a guy who had 4 season ending injuries in a row in college at Indiana, then somehow put it together for 2 seasons at Washington. But this is a player who tore the same ACL twice and had two season ending should injuries. Maybe Penix is great, one year at a time. But also I feel there are high odds that he has another season ending injury.

And then with the Falcons drafting two edge rushers and trading up to get the second one, they have not invested in their offense, which was mediocre. This puts Penix in the position of having to create a lot. That could lead to mistakes his first full year in the pros.

He's not Ed Reed, but not many are. Great pick for them. Ravens always pick solid defensive players. I've been jealous of most LB and safety picks they've made over the years. Is Ozzie Newsome still in their front office?
