Re: DRAFT 2025 LIVE THREAD

Shedeur Sanders is a complicated story arc. He's a talented quarterback intertwined with the celebrity of his father, his own public persona, and the new-age marketing machine around college athletes.

Anyone who can't admit that both his game and the aura surrounding him may not appeal to every NFL front office is kidding themselves. Teams are evaluating more than just talent. They consider and value leadership style, coachability, maturity, and locker room dynamics.

It all matters just as much, if not more than talent alone. That said, I hope Sanders breaks free from the narrative and finds success.

The talking heads that reduce skepticism about his fit to mere racism is intellectually lazy and ignores the real complexity of NFL decision-making today.

Plus it shows a lack of character and appreciation for those kids who worked and sacrificed for the opportunity to be drafted.

Good hell. Looking at all those videos sure makes Sanders look like a tool bag. And his daddy getting into his business already? What a horrible look.

It says right under the X post that the source came from a satire account and the quote can't be found anywhere else. The dogpiling will continue because it gets clicks. Shedeur's attitude isn't any worse than #1 overall picks Baker Mayfield and Johnny Manziel. He benefitted from nepotism in high school and college. Adopting his father's persona had the opposite effect going into this draft process. For months when the idea of drafting Shedeur came up it was never a critique of his play or his attitude on or off the field. The conversations always centered around his daddy. Many people love his daddy, but just as many hate his daddy. He's still fortunate and blessed, but not as blessed as being a Manning.

Wish him the best in Cleveland. If he's as good as you say, he should come out ahead there.

I'd give him a floor of Geno Smith or Chad Pennington with a ceiling of Joe Burrow. He's modeling his play style after the GOAT, but I don't think he's addicted enough to the film room to get a Brady-comp.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports Browns QB Shedeur Sanders didn’t catch “mistakes intentionally planted” in an install during pre-draft evaluations.

The draft slide heard around the world ended when the Browns traded up to select Sanders with the No. 144 overall pick in the draft. While there have been multiple attempts to justify and/or criticize the slide, Breer touches on two instances that took place between Sanders and evaluators during the pre-draft process that may have worked against him. The first was an interception a team replayed for him in Indianapolis that Sanders “didn’t take blame for.” Breer goes on to say that “as they dove deeper into it, and how it might relate to the NFL level, Sanders simply concluded that he and the staff he was talking to might not be a match.” In another visit, Breer reports Sanders didn’t pick up on intentionally planted mistakes in an install, and when called on it “the resulting exchange wasn’t pretty.” Regardless of why he fell, Sanders is now a Day 3 pick who will need to impress in more ways than one as he looks to carve out his path in the NFL.

A little lofty prognostication. It's all up to him at the end of the day. It won't be given to him. He certainly can't bomb as he did in Papz's video. His release isn't quick either. And he's got a tap habit right before launching a pass. Hope he learns quick. Tom Brady even counseled him to spend much more time in the film room, reportedly.

Here's what the greatest basketball player ever said about work ethic:
Deion had the desire to be great. Jordan stopped at nothing to be the greatest. Unless Shadeur learns from the embarrassing draft and puts everything he's got into proving everyone wrong, he's bound to fail.

In other news, Saints get a grade of "F" for their draft.
