We are seeing plays down field where player catches the ball and teammates converge on the player and opponents and push the scrum downfield when it appears the play should have been called dead. They commonly pick up an additional five, six, seven yards or more with little or no effort from the ball carrier at all. I've seen the ball carrier feet off the ground as the scrum moves forward.
The same with the Tush Push as it does not resemble a football play. It's little more than just a rugby scrum. I can see why the Saints didn't vote for the ban with Kellen Moore now in house. Shough has the size to pull it off. Rattler may be too undersized, however.
Agreed. We should go back to the previous ruleset where the push was banned. There was no good reason to revise the rule, and now we're seeing the adverse results. Football is about tackling and blocking, and the pushing hurts the spirit of the game.
I'm also disappointed that the Lions chickened out and didn't push harder for the seeding change. Division winners are already awarded by a guaranteed playoff berth. Let the winning percentage dictate the seeding as it's more logical.
